WOOOOOOOOOOT!
I am so uber excited right now! I meant to post this last week, but better late then never!
I have always been heavy. I don't even know what I weighed at my heaviest. I refused to get on a scale. At a doctors appointment a few years ago I weighed 230 pounds (my heaviest that I'm aware of). At 5'1" that is a lot of fat in a small package! I felt like an old woman. I couldn't walk up to my second floor apartment without losing my breath. I felt like a blob of ugly.
Something in me snapped in January. I decided that I would make a resolution to get healthy and January 4 I joined Weight Watchers. My husband was also seriously overweight at about 260 pounds and, the awesome man he is, he decided to follow the program with me.
He is down to 195 pounds! We have been each others motivation and cheerleaders. We do our best to walk 3-5 miles 5 nights a week. We keep each other accountable and honest.
My German Shepherd has also been instrumental in helping me get fitter. The vet told us in January that his hips are showing signs of hip dysplasia (a common deterioration in GSDs). The vet said that he NEEDED to get a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise a day and 1 hour a day would be even better to build muscle around the hip and lose weight (less strain on the hips). So for me it's not even an option anymore NOT to walk my dog every day. My dog is amazing and I want him to have an awesome quality of life. Now if I am busy or forget, the dog grabs the leash and bring it to me. He LOVES his walks!
After 5 full months on Weight Watchers I have lost a total of 47.6 pounds. I started at 212 and am down to 164.4! My goal is 130 and It blows my mind to know that I am only 34.4 pounds away from it!
I would LOVE to be down by Christmas. I have an evil plan to take Xmas photos and put them on the cards that you can mail out to everyone and send them to all the people who told me I couldn't do it or who ever called me fat.
I know that it's gonna be a challenge to lose the rest of it, but I bought an active link to try and keep myself motivated! I'm in the assessment phase right now.
Okay I've been long-winded enough, on the the photos! I've taken pictures each time I lose another 5% of my starting weight. I didn't really take a full front or side photo each time (until today when I reach 20% and remembered for once!), but I tried to get some sort of picture each time.
