Default Bad, crazy day

So there was a baggage handlers strike at Brussels airport which means I have no luggage and it will be sent home to the US when found. Which means I have to spend the next two days wearing the same suit and shirt. Yuck. Worse, my toiletries were in there so no shave either. It will be designer stubble for my meetings tomorrow. Oh and no shoes. I decided to take my gym shoes on the plane.

My only bit of luck is that I packed my gym clothes in my carry on laptop case. I have just hit the gym and, although a little underequipped, it was not that bad.

But here comes the drama. NO TRAVEL SCALE FOR THE NEXT TWO DAYS. I can't weigh in! How will I cope?

Ian, I'm assuming you're traveling on business. Buying a new shirt and some toiletries would be worth the cost (even some new shoes!) and most companies would reimburse you. You can get the suit cleaned/pressed at the hotel.

I always carry minimum toiletries with me (of course, you have to now that all liquids are limited) and clean underwear with me as a carry on when I fly. My assumption is that something will go wrong after one bad flight several years ago.

Thanks. I bought some more toiletries and I do carry underwear for such an emergency. I will rough the rest for one day of work and the trip home.

The big deal is NO SCALE! How will I cope?

Thanks TripSwitch. You're a gem. Suddenly, life ain't so bad!

Cheers!

The scale and beer are partners in my diet. Less scale will require more beer. We'll toast absent friends i.e. the travel scale!

Actually that's true - most nice hotels have a fitness area and often have a scale, I'd ask. And second the beer recommendation. What a bum deal on your luggage

Oh IAN.. I am sorry that this happened to you. The good thing is.... when you next step on the scale... you will be really happy and surprised with the results....Not weighing on your scale is sorta breaking the tie alittle. But the thought of what it will say is something fun to look forward to too.... You also know when you have lost weight (pain in the side and the fit of your 1 owned outfit) so you know that is happening.... I know you will be okay. I know that you will enjoy yourself there in Brussels but watch it... and it sounds like there might be some new and good tasting beers around there too... Maybe with even more hops. That is something fun to think of.

You are ok and doing great really great....

Bummer. Many airlines offer compensation for delayed luggage. I wonder if the strike would count towards that.

THE HORROR!!!!

I'm not being sarcastic - I have a codependent relationship with my scale. I'm house sitting for BFF while she's at disneyland with the fam this weekend. I sent her a text this morning asking if she has a scale or should I bring my own. Her response, "You know it's only 3 days, right." 36 hours without a scale is not an option for me.

Thanks guys. I'll muddle through. The hotel does have a scale but it is an analogue one and since I weigh daily to 0.2 of a lb, I don't want inconsistency. So I will wait until I get home. There had best be a nice surprise waiting for me!

The beer is good. Looking forward to getting more of that in me after work today. But because I have shifted the gym to the evenings for the rest of the week (had to because of morning flights) I need to remember to not drink before the gym. Tricky one for me that.
