Default People that were thinner than you now look big

I'm not judging people. Honest. But several people that I used to think were thinner than me now look fat as my weight has dropped.

This is very strange as I doubt any of them have put on an ounce.

It's all relative, Lol. How are you liking Turkey? I was there during my college years and loved it.

Fine thanks Fadedbluejeans. I am in Ankara at the moment which is a little dull. I need to get down to Istanbul. I'll try to do that at the weekend but will need to engineer some business meetings down there first!

Yes! I know exactly what you're talking about Ian. My niece for example. She was always smaller than myself and now she looks bigger, considerably bigger, when I see her now.

I hope she never sees this post....this is why I don't use my real name

My DH had said last summer that someone we know had lost weight. It was really unusual for him to say something like that so she really must have! I'd say she weighed 240 or 250. I was SO jealous, I wanted to be that thin.

Now I matched and passed her weight and I'm "thin" next to her. And to think I only wanted to look as good as her.

I'm also more observant of everyone but its really my own insecurities trying to compare myself to everyone (small and large).

I remember when I DREAMED of weighing 220 like someone I know also. It seemed impossible at the time. Amazing how our perspective changes as we chug along

Yeah I have a co-worker who I always thought was thin and thought, "that would be a good size for me." I recently found out she's a 16, 3 sizes above me, which feels really weird. I still don't FEEL that I am thinner than her though although I must be.

Yes. A woman that I worked with a few years ago is now one of my pals at Weight Watchers. I've never thought of her has fat, nor do I now. But I actually weigh less than her now and am a couple of sizes down from her. It's quite mind blowing, actually

several years back I had a friend who did WW and never lost any weight, but at the time I thought she didn't look very heavy and I wanted to do WW just to get down to her size....now i'm smaller than her, and never did WW anyhow lol, and I don't think she's really gained much weight, if any...its weird

I think we all use ourselves, unconsciously, as a reference when it comes to other people. I mean I do that for both height and weight. If a woman is taller then me, she seems "tall". Is she is shorter, she seems "short" to me. As if I was the only right height, which I am not - if anything, I am rather tall myself.

I guess we do the same thing with weight. People who look heavier than us seem heavy...and if they look lighter than us, they seem light and we want to be like them...until we are actually lighter than them, and start considering them heavy all of sudden!

Totally. It's kind of nice to realize people I see and think "wow that person is thin" are the same size as me or maybe even bigger.

even though I now look at a few people who I thought were "thinner than me" and now they are bigger than me...I still have a very warped image of myself in my head...ive recently seen a few photos of me that I didn't know were being taken and I do look smaller than I think I look

weirdly enough if I KNOW the photo is being taken, I look at it and see all my trouble spots and still think i'm awfully heavy

but if I DONT KNOW the photo was being taken, I later see it and sometimes do a double-take like "is that ME?" ...."well no one else there had a bright pink raincoat!" ...there was a pic taken of me by the local newspaper (well not OF me but I was in it) and I seriously didn't think it was me at first...and then the photo was picked up by other newspapers around the state and re-published *sigh*

this weekend I was running on a trail and my DH took a brief video of me and I later looked at it and I DONT LOOK FAT(!!!) it was the weirdest thing!

I have had the same experience. It is always possible that "other people" are gaining and losing as we gain or lose and therefore look bigger/smaller, but I doubt it.

I have a really hard time seeing myself accurately. I can mainly tell by clothes how fat/thin I am.
