Default Hair Help

Hey everyone.
Ok. Im still new to this site, but I have lost weight in the past - about 30 pounds. I started with weight watchers and it was at a pretty slow but consistent amount each week (0.5-1.0 pound loss/week). If i had to guess i was probably eating around 1500-1700? calories. Maybe less. Not sure, because it was a points system (i was allowed 21 points? something like that, but my hair was fine. didnt notice a difference, and no fall out. BUT then i decided to count calories and ate around 1000-1200. when i did this i noticed a lot of hair loss. This made me very sad, because i already have thin hair to begin with. I'd also like to add that on the calorie count i was eating the exact same things every single day pretty much. not really healthy things :/ like low sugar oatmeal, and pudding and pretzels as snacks, and lean cuisines. its been about 5 years since i lost weight the first time around. This time i want to do it healthy and without loosing my hair :/
I dont want to do weight watchers, because i like counting calories more. Its easier to me, and i dont want to pay money and go weigh in at a place. stuff like that. So whats your advice? This time around i was going to stick to a 1200-1500 cals, lots of fruit, vegs, protein, and a multivitamin. not highlight it as much etc. OR do you guys think thats too low? should i up my calorie intake to 1500-1700 and lose weight slower. i guess i dont mind slow weight loss if i still have my hair! but it just kind of bums me out.

anyone else have this issue? or is it just me?

low calories of unhealthy food will make your hair fall out. If you don't want your hair to fall out, eat more nutritious foods of adequate calories.

Sounds like you kind of figured it out for yourself. Try the higher calorie levels and see how you do. If your hair is falling out, what else is happening to your bones and organs?

i guess im just impatient. i want to lose more like 1.0 - 1.5/ week. compared to 0.5 - 1.0/week. Do you think my hair will be fine if i eat 1200-1500 of nutritious foods?

Only you can figure that out. And keep in mind that weight loss is not linear. You may lose less one week, more another, then stall for 3 weeks in a row for no discernible reason. Find a plan you can stick with every day, week after week for the long haul. Stick with that plan. This is a marathon, not a sprint.

If you're worried about thinning/losing hair try taking a supplement. I take Biotin daily and that's for hair and nail strength and Evening Primrose Oil for hair and skin. I didn't have thin hair, but I have noticed my hair is thicker now. I used to wrap the hair tye around 4 times and I can only go 3 before it's too tight. It doesn't work for everyone, but it has for me. Also, just a one a day multi vitamin and fish oil work wonders too. Just make sure to get the fish oil that says "no fish burps" or else you'll taste fish everytime you burp or hiccup

ok. It doesnt really look like too many people struggle with hair loss here as long as you eat 1200 calories or above of nutritious foods.
Thanks!

My hair thinned a little and breaks easier now that I've lost 40 lbs. I maintained for a while and am back to lose the last 25 lbs. I eat very nutritiously so it really is just my body but if you notice a HUGE difference and seems like you figured it out already in terms of your calories then lose weight slower. Also, if losing weight is slower and closer to normal/healthy habits then you're more likely to keep it off.

Slow and steady wins the race.
