I wanted to post this here, since this is my "home" board.
Today, April 3rd, is National Walking Day. http://www.startwalkingnow.org/about...alking_day.jsp
"Statistics show that 1 in 2 men, and 1 in 3 women are at risk for heart disease, and research shows that poor lifestyle is a major contributor."
So today- get up and walk for 30 minutes- Impact your life! But even better...impact another's life, as well.
Two months ago, RavenWolf shared with us why she was on her weight loss journey:

During this time of reflection, I finally got myself together and knew it was time, I was ready. 1 January I started my weight loss journey anew, and have kept it up longer than I every have.
Just 2 weeks ago, my friend's sister let me know Laura's cause of death: It was heart failure. Even now it tears at my heart to write this, to think that her smile has forever been stolen from my life. She was a big girl as well. So my weight loss is not just for me and family, it is also for Laura. I want to be healthy so I will be available to her daughter for years to come, to tell her all the stories of the fun she and I had with her and my kids.
Thank you all. I'm going to write "For Laura" on paper and take a pic of me with it in front of me before I head out. I will be putting that on my blog. If any of you would like to do the same and email me a picture to use on my blog, let me know. It would be amazing to show her sister and 10 year old daughter the support! I'd also like to have a small photo book printed for her 10 year old to keep as a momento of all the love her mama received, and gave.
So who is with us?!
Don't forget to make a sign "For Laura" to lift up her daughter and sister in support. To show that people all over the nation are getting healthy for themselves- and in their mother's honor today.
Take a walk. And change a life. Today.

I never even knew there was a National Walking Day, so I'm glad this was posted. And, doing it in the memory of loved ones who have passed is a wonderful idea. That being said, I will definitely go for a walk today, and I'll be sure to take a picture for Laura and Ravenwolf, as well!
Well, I walked today (with my canes), even though I didn't know that it was NATIONAL WALKING DAY! I am going through chemo rounds right now, and I am so glad to feel well enuff to go for a walk today ... and I am happy to dedicate that walk to LAURA too!!!

It's so beautiful out right now, I mean it's cold but the sun is shining, and it's so awesome to get home after work and it still be light out. I will definitely take a walk in the name of Laura and Ravenwolf. Thanks Lunar!
