Cool Staying OP even in crazy times....

Well my oldest (11) ended up in the hospital tonight due to dehydration. He has had the stomach flu since last Thursday and was getting better until last night. Today he had horrible stomach pains and knew I had to take him in.

He was drinking, just not enough and lost 5 lb in a week (he only weighed 77 lb to start with). So here he is getting IV fluids. Of course it happened right around when dinner would be so I ate a couple hard boiled eggs. Not a lot for dinner.

I did remember to grab a bar and RTD chocoalte shake for tomorrow at least! Also had to grab a bar for my husband as he was the one who brought him down after Urgent Care told us too. He hadn't had supper either so he was starving!

Oh well, just goes to show you even on this diet if something unexpected comes up you can make it work. Now don't get me wrong, as I was on my way out the door the frozen pizza I made for the kids sure looked tempting to grab a slice. But even in this situation I knew it wasn't what I should do!

Thanks, had to share as it's been a long night and I really need to try and fall asleep in this chair lol.

What a stressful situation! I hope he gets better super quick. Hospitals are no fun! Good for you for staying OP during such a stressful time. Good luck to you and your son.

Wishing him a speedy recovery and you OP in stressful times.
Remember, if food (true hunger) isn't the problem, food won't fix it. Sounds like you did great! Most hospital food isn't the best but it'll do in a pinch & you'll stay sane in a crazy time.

I am so sorry your son and family had to endure this. I pray for a speedy recovery for him.

This made me think how loosing weight and getting healthy has to become a way of life. You just gave all of us a great example of how things come up and throw us off track. If you had not made the life style changes you would have reacted much differently.

Good job sticking with it even in stressful times. It is times like these that when you are in maintenance you can remember how strong you were! Speedy recovery for your son!

Good for you for staying on plan in the hospital - not easy with no warning or time to plan ahead. But you did it!

I hope your son is better today, and you are both back home soon. Also hoping none of your other little ones, or you or you husband get the stomach bug too.

And by the way - glad to see you are still rocking IP - it seems like you just posted that you were halfway to goal and look at you now!

Yes everyone is home tonight and... mostly healthy! Problem when you have 4 kids it gets passed around all at different times!

The hospital staff was so nice trying to bring me things to eat and drink. Hubby when he came this morning got to eat some of it (since he is phase 4).

Thing is sometimes when you are worried/stress you reach for food and the next you don't want it. lol Went through both of those during the night/morning!
