Default My Friend Invited Me To Do a 5K 30 March...

It is a fun run/walk. I can not yet run a whole 5K, as badly as I wish I could. So, I will have to run part and walk part of it.

My question is, how does that work? Is there a run group and a walk group? Or do you just run when you feel you can and walk the rest?

I'm excited, nervous and fearful at the same time. I really want to do a 5K, but was totally wanting to be able to run the whole thing.

Who here has done a 5K walk/run? Where you happy with it?

For general races (a fun run is definitely more casual), if they are fairly small, you can place yourself. If the event already doesn't say something like "walkers start at 9am, runners start at 9:30", then you can assume everyone starts at the same time. As a mostly walker, you'd want to position yourself towards the back of the group. Those that are runners and fairly fast runners will position themselves near the front.

I've done a few walk/runs and generally they are really fun.

Thanks! I was really unsure of how these things go. I've never done one, or even seen one!

Hey there Ravenwolf I did the 5k Color run and that was a walk/run event as well. For ours they had the left side of the course dedicated to runners and the right side dedicated to walkers If you ran, you still had to do a lot of weaving because sometimes runners would stop and start walking. But it was fun! Runners and walkers started together in big waves of people Then you just broke off into your "side" of the track. It was enjoyable but I found it sometimes hard to keep my momentum when someone would stop in front of me and I had to try to avoid them ! I think you'll have fun and it's definitely something you should try at least once!
