Default How I overcame foods power over me>>>

I have been gaga over Pinterest and collect food. I look at the pics ( yes food porn) endlessley. Especially when spinning .. guess it has fixed me. I'm no longer phased. Certainly nowhere as bad as I used to be. In lieu of doing this I'm finally in onederland-that's huge for me. Food has no power over me anymore. I challenge anyone struggling to give this a try-it might help.

There was a recent study that imagining you were eating unhealthier food than you are caused you to eat less overall... I wonder if it's the same effect? I find if I'm watching the food network but eating a salad I still feel plenty full.

I'm obsessed with the Food Network and could watch it all day, endlessly. I think it's sort of desensitized me so that I can watch people eating all sorts of things around me or even watch Diners, Drivethroughs and Dives and my thought is "hmmm I bet I could make that healthier!"

I get lots of ideas of what to eat from food shows and pics and cookbooks and it's made me more aware that I don't have to feel "deprived."

That's it precisely! I'm desensitized now. Yes, it can happen like mentioned eat healthy but think bad foods, look at them-eventually the power that bad eating has, becomes powerless. Walla!! New mindset .. it can be beat.

oh my gosh, i discovered the same thing a few weeks ago! i had a sucessful dieting day for the first time in a LONG time, and the same day i started looking at pinterest while i was hungry. It actually helped! i got distracted by the recipies, and the abundance of them that actually finding junk food to eat seemed not as tasty as what was on the screen..lol

I believe I have a similar technique. I watch A LOT of junk food videos on YouTube and somehow that seems to calm down my appetite.

I think it does work. I watch loads of food vids on YouTube like Flavio and now I'll watch a recipe and immediately think "is that how much salt/sugar you're putting in?" I'm glad to be more health conscious and I do feel somewhat desensitized to food overall. I get cravings here and there but nothing like I used to.

Funny---I had to stop going on Pinterest as much because all the recipes were too tempting. Same thing with Food Network---watching it makes me hungry. I wish what works for you worked for me!

I do it, too!!! Thought I was nuts--but it helps me. I call it "virtual eating."

I'll be giving this a try! I'm in a tough position right now. I had my gallbladder out a month ago and since then I've been able to eat anything and everything without becoming ill (for the first time in years). I'm torn between the delight of being able to eat whatever I want and the knowledge that I really want to fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes again. Maybe this will help.
