It's not working this time..
I've been on IP for 10 days now, and have only lost 3 lbs! The first time around I was down 6 lbs after the first week. The thing that made it a "do-able" program for me, since giving up bread, pasta, etc. was the fact that it worked quickly. Any thoughts as to why this is happening?
Thank you in advance....

Was your starting weight the same the first time around? I have never started at that weight, so maybe someone who did could answer better.
Are you following the diet protocol exactly as it is? Are you dealing with constipation or water retention? These are the common reasons for slow loss.
I know how frustrating it is...I stalled for a over a week with my TOM...frustrating

The fact that you are losing means it is working. Hang in, I am pretty sure on any other diet the loss would be even less, hang in. Be confident that your body will do the right thing by you

3lbs! That's awesome! Sounds like it is working to me. Every week it's different. So don't worry. My first week I lost seven the 2nd and 4th week I lost 2 and 3 and I am very happy with that. Celebrate losses!

If you have less to lose this time around you are not going to see the same numbers you did the first time. Less weight to lose means slower weight loss no matter what diet you choose, because there is a smaller difference between the calories you are eating and the calories your body needs to function.

What was your food intake before you started the first time has your diet changed a lot this time or were you more or less eating pretty low carb before you started. There are a lot of variables in the equation.
One thing though, stop weighing yourself...easier said then done (trust me I know). The diet works and sometimes when you over analyse the scale the stress of it will help you hang on to some weight.
The diet works, it may not work the way YOU want it to work or as FAST as you want it to work...but it works, you've lost weight...3 lbs is great!!

listen to Scorbett. Closer you are to your goal, and you are close, the slower it comes off. Or so I have heard!!!!

3 lbs is not a bad loss in 10 days! I lost 4 lbs my first week on the program and close to that each week since. I agree the closer you are to goal the slower it will come off. You're doing fine.

Lots of good points made. Thanks everyone. I really was forgetting that the last time I did this I started at 165, so starting at 153 (with a goal of 135) would mean that since I'm closer to my goal, I'd lose a bit slower. Wonder if I can expect that same average as before... If I can realistically expect to lose 12 or so in a month?
I was eating pretty low carb and kept my weight stable until around Halloween. I pretty much lost control from Halloween to the end of January. It was upsetting because the carbs to me are like alcohol to an alcoholic. Hubby lost his job in December (after being with the company for 20 years, they shut down their office). Instead of going on a "beer bender" I was on a carb bender. Time to get it back under control. I worked too hard to take it off last time to let myself go back to square one.
Thank you all for the support. Trying to stay strong and positive for my husband while inside I'm just as worried is starting to take its toll.

Come on over to the Reboot thread. Most of us doing this again are having to work harder with slower results. We're all closer to our goals than first time around...so the consensus seems to be similar for most of us. You'll find a lot of support/ideas/tricks/recipes on this thread...so come on over. You're doing great, there's just less of you to lose this time. Frustrating as it is....that's a good thing.

Yes - I would have loved to 3 lbs in 10 days during my reboot, especially being a lower weight!
Come on over to the reboot - we discuss some ways to "boost" the loss an also share in the frustration you are feeling ...

I started at 2 lbs heavier the second time around and have lost about 5 lbs less at the 6 week mark. But, I have lost more inches this time than I did at 6 weeks before. So you are doing great!!! Keep up the good work.
