Alternate to IP Chocolate Protein Powder
Hi! I've been off of IP for a few months but really want to start again. Problem is, I can't afford it so need to find alternatives. I've searched through the forum but haven't found the answer yet (either I've tried the shakes and didn't like them or they're not available here). I LOVE IP chocolate shakes. Seriously delicious. But haven't been able to find an alternative that tastes as good. I've tried the Whey Protein from Costco - bleh! gross. I've also tried Pure protein from Walmart - gross again! (plus I want powder, not the pre-mixed)
Any suggestions? I really don't want to have to go to the health food store and buy a whole tub of it before trying.

No, I got nuthin'. I feel the same way (same "whey" even!) I have TWO tubs (huge ones) of protein powders that just gross me out, and the cookies turn out worse than cardboard. I'm not sure if it's cheaper to buy the IP shakes online? Personally, I buy the costco ones for drinking (premier protein) and they are delish. And I buy my IP ones to make cookies so I don't use as many.
Good luck and let me know if you find ones you like. I'm willing to try...just one more time... Now I have to figure out a 'whey' to get rid of the kilos of powder I have. May have to experiment with some syrups or something.

I've tried several, and ChocoRite Chocolate Supreme Shakemix is by far my favorite:

ProtiDiet chocolate shake is the closest i have found to the IP one. I order from Diet Direct and have done well with those products. There are TONS of reviews in the alternative threads. Good luck!

I just ordered a tub of chocolate Dymatize ISO 100. The reviews are all very favorable for both quality and taste. It is a hydrolyzed whey protein isolate so it is a little pricier than standard isolate powders but the cost is still under $1 a serving.
I just picked this up as an alternative for the EAS shakes due to an allergy I developed for one of the artificial sweeteners. I will let you know how the Dymatize ISO 100 is in comparison to the IP and EAS drinks when it arrives.

Protithin hot chocolate is very close to the IP one, it tastes great hot or cold. I buy it at Nashua Nutrition.

Hey nobylsppon,
Is that Jillian Michaels in your pic? Shes so pretty!
Did EAS give you a rash on her fingers?
I feel like I might be having a reaction to the EAS shakes.

Hi Brit,
I really like the Protidiet shake, I was wondering if the # of carbs is acceptable though?

Yup, it sure is! We met her in NY at a book signing.
I have developed an allergy to acesulfame potassium. No rash on my fingers, I get severe stomach cramps/pain 20min after consuming EAS shakes and several IP products. I didn't have the issue during my first 4 months on the program. I'm looking forward to reaching my goal so I can cut out all of the chemical additives from my diet.

Hi Lexi,
There is only 6 grams of net carbs in the shake (total carbs minus the fiber), anything under 9 is unrestricted. This is the closest thing i've found to the IP chocolate drink and it's awesome hot or cold. Also, it's only $12.50 for a box of 7 (so much better than IP)! Hope that helps. I've been using solely ProtiDiet products since i re-started IP, and i've been doing well. I really like that there is a decent amount of variety with unrestricted products too.
