Hi Moll and welcome!

I'm an oldie but just come back after an absence, right now the changing my life part is more important to me than the weight bit, but let's be honest, they go hand in hand!

Do you have a plan of attack to achieve your goal? Good luck and check out the chat thread on here too

Lolloveschocolate - how about just taking it a bit at a time, rather than scaring yourself with the big picture?

Where do you want to be in four weeks time for example? If you aim for healthy weight-loss of roughly 2lbs per week, you could be around half a stone lighter .

Hi Moll and everybody,
*waves*

I just joined as well and I really think this website will help me on my journey.

I lost over six stones about 8 years ago and never quite managed/tried hard enough to lose the other 3 and I think it is time! New year, new me!

C.
(I am originally from France and I measure weight in kilos- super confused at the stones and pounds, I constantly need to convert to realize just how much you girls have lost!)

Well done for your fantastic weight loss C, and good luck with those last three stones! We have a similar journey to go on and with support we can both do it.

Come and jump into the UK Chicks chat thread and tell us how you are going to achieve it . I'm here for the long haul, plus it gives me some 'me time' whilst my baby is sleeping or trying to get back to sleep (like right now!), so I'll happily cheer anyone on and hopefully they will do the same for me!

P.S. not sure if this is of any use but I bookmarked this page to help me when people talk in kgs or just pounds - http://www.hintsandthings.co.uk/bathroom/weights.htm

coda tree. many thanks for the advice. maybe thinking about it in smaller goals would be better and less daunting.

Hi Moll *waves*

I signed up here the day I officially started concentrating on losing weight, and it's been invaluable. There's nothing quite like having people to talk to who understand exactly what you're going through, into the subtleties of weight loss that are beyond the "eat healthy and exercise" general advice you find everywhere! And, this forum is full of lovely people

Oh, and I second the suggestion about breaking the weight loss down into manageable chunks! I want to lose 100lbs (well, now it's 92 ) and I would drive myself barking mad if I thought about that for more than a few minutes. I concentrate on 1lb at a time (since I'm losing 100lbs, I call it 100%, so each bit I have to lose sounds even tinier). Just concentrate on one pound at a time. If you're calorie counting, that's about 3500 calories. Imagine you only wanted to lose ONE POUND. How tiny does that seem? If I'm fed up, I think, well... just concentrate on this 1lb for now, right now it's all that matters. Maybe take some starting pics, then put them away and forget about them. I did that, then came back after 8lbs and could actually see a tiny difference Much as I want to be 112 RIGHT NOW, I must remember to not obsess, enjoy other parts of my life, and focus my attention on the next 1lb.
