Default What is wrong with me???

You guys, this is so humiliating. I lost 16 lbs over 6 weeks and then allowed a small cheat. That led to one excuse after another and now I've gained 10 back. Why can't I stick with this? How can I be such a failure?
I stopped coming here because I couldn't even face what I had done but now I realize that it was a huge part of the problem. I need this group, advice and support. I'm so bummed but I'm going to start all over again next week. I've started cutting back to prepare and I'm not scared to start over but I'm just p***sed at myself.
Had to come clean.....

The first step in fixing a problem is admitting there's a problem to fix
You CAN do this. You are NOT a failure - mistakes happen, they help us grow but they do NOT define us. You know what happened, and by posting you also show that you know where your support is to get back on track. We are here for you, if you decide to get back on the horse we will cheer you on every step of the way!!

Try to think of it this way, maybe having that experience, as bad as it feels, just serves the purpose of showing you how much you really do want to do this. What's wrong with you? Probably nothing, we all have challenges. One thing that I've never had before was a clear plan on how to eat after weight loss to ensure it stays off, and IP and this group is giving me that. I think a lot of getting this right and having success in weight loss is 1. having knowledge, and 2. having support. You will get tons of both here, which will allow you to do this. Welcome!

You took the first step you came clean & now today is a new day. Just get back on track & what you have gained should drop right off.

Today is a new day to get healthy again. If you had the strength to lose 16 pounds, you can do it again. Good for you being accountable and posting. Keep posting. You can do it!

As others have said, you are here and talking about it. It happens and sometimes I think you have to live through it to see how easy it is to slip away for a bit because of one cheat. Congrats for coming back and talking about it. You got this!!!

Welcome back! You can do this again.

Just take it one day at a time, and when temptation strikes tell yourself you are not going to cheat today. The longer you stay 100% OP, the easier it will get.

I know these feelings all too well. I started IP in January 2012, lost about 40lbs- didn’t do as well as I could have. I quit IP in May 2012 due to some other things in my life and IP was not an option. Ate really well didn’t gain, August 2012 I had a major life changing even went to a very dark place for many weeks- ate my feelings away! Gained all the weight and then some. Decided that this is not what I wanted my life to be! Went back to IP Nov 2012 for 4 weeks lost 20 lbs now I have switched to alternatives due to cost. Still losing, not as fast but I’m happy with that!

There is nothing wrong with you what so ever! We have all gone through this with some diet or another. You need to figure out 1. Why you keep falling into old habits 2. Why you want to lose weight. Some of the hardest things I have found during weight loss is soul searching sometimes you really don’t like the person you see however you’re the only one who can change it. I have struggled so much over the years, however now I found my motivation- I’m trying to have a baby, this keeps me from putting garbage into my body. My mom always said… your body is your temple.

8isenough, I used to feel the exact same way. Hang in there it will get better as you get back on track and more comfortable with it. (I still have the fear I will return to those feelings one day, but I hope not to.)

One thing I have found really helpful is a book by Judith Beck (http://astore.amazon.com/3fatchionad...216363-1799918) and the related forum here at 3FC. http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/beck...ddy-coach.html These have really helped me change my thinking, that I was a failure for being overweight/obese so much of my life, to giving me usable tools that I can apply in my life now and in the future. I can't say enough how important this change in thinking has helped me. Good luck and keep posting, even when you find yourself off track.

I would say first of all, forgive yourself. You're human.

Second, at least for those of us who have a lot of weight to lose and I am one of them, we didn't get into this situation because food is all that easy for us to manage. But you're starting again, going forward, feel good about that.

I think something probably is wrong, but it's not your fault. Sounds like you are beating yourself up over it, and you have to STOP that immediately. Saying that it is your fault is such a twisted self-hurting thing that I (and probably a lot of us here) have done for so long. You need to change that and have only loving, compassionate thoughts about yourself and about everything you do/not do.

One thing that is most likely "wrong" is that you triggered insulin spike and believe me nobody can fight that, it's a super strong force; how do you think we got to be so obese? None of us loved how our bodies were starting to look like as we were gaining and gaining, but no one could stop. The only way to beat this thing into submission is to take a few days aside, and calm your insulin down...the hard few days, yes, and maybe it will be 10 days, but that's what you got to do and then there will be no need to cheat any more, regardless of what your other feelings are. And like everyone pointed out, each and every time you feel down, this place will cheer you right back up.

And yes, it is helpful to analyze "what's wrong" but no more "what's wrong with me".
