anyone else use nutella for their sweet fix? A little spread on apple slices or on while grain toast kicks that sweet tooth's butt! Know if only i could find a way to kick my chip habit... any tips?

I LOVE nutella, but I can't keep it in the house, it's just far too addictive. I can turn down actual candy bars, pies, cookies, cakes... but not nutella - that stuff is just pure, creamy, silky, nummy evil.

I'm not a big fan of anything chocolate, so no. I don't have much of a sweet tooth luckily.

I love nutella but I bought a big jar a few months ago and haven't touched it in awhile. Don't know why. Maybe I just got tired of it.

We always have Nutella in the house... But oddly enough it doesn't temp me... I've been getting my chocolate fix lately from a few squares of Green & Blacks Organic Dark Chocolate... I go for the Dark 85%... it does the trick for me and is only about 60 calories with around 3 grams of carbs...

Nutella is extremely tasty. It can be a great treat when applied to wheat bread or even fruit and vegetables like celery, apples and carrots.
However Nutella uses palm oil, which is a saturated fat and high in omega 6 fatty acids. Omega 6 fatty acids are inflammatory in the body.
A great alternative would be a nut butter without added oil. They make great flavors that can seem decadent but still be healthy. If you are into cooking you can make your own butters, which can be very simple and you are in control of your own add ins like honey, chocolate even mint.
I really wanted to post links but this is my first post, sorry.

Nutella is around 70% fat, I wouldn't call it a sweet fix, it's a very-high-fat, high-carb fix. No water, no fiber in it. It's so unhealthy that you don't even need to keep it in the fridge, no microorganism would thrive on it. And the neurotoxin in cocoa weakens the strong will [literally!], so I'm not sure if it's a good idea for somebody who's on a diet.

I think nutella has done a very good job in making you think it's good for you!
If you want an amazing treat on some apples, try all natural cashew butter. It's around the same price point at the store.

I used to do the same thing with peanut butter. Lately I've tried PB2. Its not a bad substitute.

Nutella is kind of a liquid candy bar
I personally like Justin's chocolate hazelnut butter, it still has added sugar but I think its a better choice between the two.

I buy alot of different low calorie snacks and mix it up so i went from eating a bag of chips every day or 2 to just sometimes having a serving of them when i feel i must. if you have alot of other treats around that are lower calorie and stuff, you wont be as tempted by the chips..if you are super tempted by chips and cant go without, maybe you could have half a serving 2-4 times a day?. a serving of chips that i eat are 260 cals and usually i would rather have 1 brownie at 110 cals,1 fruit snack 80 cals, and 7 mentos at 70 cals..not super healthy but neither are chips and i can snack longer and usually eat all that over a few hours rather then 5 minutes with chips and be wanting something else. try to find low cal snacks that add up to the serving of chips, you get more snacking variety which seems to work better for me than eating one thing.
also instead of chips you could eat the rice cracker chips (forget their name) i like the dill ones. you can eat 13 for 90 cals.. or a bag of buttered pop corn at 19 cal per cup
