Default Does your coach say to eat every 4 hours?

I am now very curious.

My coach says eat within an hour of waking up.

Eat a protein meal every 4 hours.

On the daily chat yesterday, we did talk about this. Just curious on what the consensus is.

Thanks

I didn't read the daily chat yesterday, but yes, we are to eat within one hour of getting up and every 4 - 4 1/2 hrs from there.

Mine never specified. I was told I had to have my first meal early (before 9) and I shouldn't have my last meal after 8. This is assuming the individual wakes at 6-7 and goes to bed at 10.

My coach never gave me specific times. There is no way I can eat every 4 hours. I should have eaten an hour ago, but I work and my lunch is in 5 minutes. And I don't get off until 5. Which means I'm not eating until 6 when I get home. I have my snack at night because that's what I used to do before, but it's right at 8 because I don't normally go to bed until 10:30 - 11 anyway.

But again, my coach didn't say anything about time.

I never eat within an hour of getting up. I need coffee first and that doesn't happen till around 8:30 - usually have my first IP at 9:30 -10:00. I get up around 7:00.

Hmmmm could that be why I'm shaky and dizzy every morning?

I can't imagine having to make it from say 8:00 to noon without food. Even if I have my IP meal at 9:30 - 10:00 I usually need to eat my salad by 11:30 or so. I can't go more than a couple of hours without food. I blame Leptin.

My coach never said a thing about timing - thankfully, because my schedule wouldn't permit that at all. She did say it's great to finish eating 2 hours before bedtime, but if that can't happen, then so be it.

I'm glad I don't have that timeline to worry about!

No. Clearly you aren't eating at night, so I'm not sure how the food timing would matter, except for trying to not let yourself get too hungry because that's when the urge to eat off program becomes hard to handle.

Did your coach give you a scientific reason?

Eating every 4 hours keeps your metaboloism going. When I started my weight loss decreased because I wasnt eating every 4 hours. My coach told me to grab a piece of celery, cucumber, or dill pickle to hold me over and keep my metabolism going until I could eat. You should be eating within 1 hour of waking.

My coach told me every 4 hours, if I go longer than that, I have to eat 1 HB egg white for each hour after 4. And I have to eat within 1 hour of waking up. She claims it is because if you wait too long, you will burn muscle. But as someone said yesterday, the diet is about burning the fat stores so why would it matter?

PS I don't do what my coach says all the time. PPS: She freaks out if I lose muscle mass over what is expected with pound loss. 'Are you eating on time??'

My coach said no more than 6 hours because then my body will go into starvation mode and save fat. I've been trying really hard. I had parent-teacher conferences today so I had some celery at 3 and then at supper when I got home at 9. Now it's 9:30 and I'm going to get my IPHot chocolate and go to bed. Not following the rules seems to be the story of my life, but I don't think it would have been very professional of me to be eating while trying to talk to parents!

LOL - my coach does this too, but it feels like she is looking for something to pin on me so that I don't blame IP for not producing the promised results. After all, they are the ones that say they are different because you won't lose muscle mass, so it feels like they have to find some way to make it your fault and not their false advertising. It totally turns me off. I have done better on IP than anything else ever, but I hate being treated like I've done something wrong.

I love the fist article - hilarious. John what do you think about this eating within an hour of waking in regards to weight loss? Myth or fact? I've never done it - I wake at 7:00, coffee at 8:30 and first IP at 9:30 ish - what do you think?

I try to eat every 4 1/2 hours just because it seems that fits my schedule best but I never eat within an hour of waking up, it's more like 2 hours or so.
