Default Soy flour and white sweet potatoes and going from phase 2 to phase 1?

Hi everyone, I'm trying to transition from phase 2 to phase 1. I had a baby in May and although I generally stuck to phase 2 and phase 3 eating as I have been doing for several years now, I didn't always. I decided I should do a phase 1 again as a refresher, but I haven't done phase 1 in so long that I'm almost scared. I have re-read the phase 1 threads just to refresh my memory. For this week I've been doing a sort of phase 1.7. Has anyone done anything like that before, went from phase 2 to a phase in between and finally started on phase 1? Just wondering.

2 queries (I did a search but couldn't find any applicable info). I know sweet potatoes are fine for Phase 2, but someone gave me a bag of red-skinned, white fleshed sweet potatoes the other day and I've never seen those before. The internet says they are japanese sweet potatoes. I'm skeptical... are these okay?

Soy flour. Fine on phase 2 but what about phase 1? I know flours are a no-no on phase 1 (except for almond meal) but what about soy flour? I use soy flour often, but of course going on Phase 1 again is a totally different thing..

Thanks in advance for your help, fellow SBD'ers.

Welcome back, Melanie, and congratulations on your new baby! I bet you are quite busy keeping up with 2 little ones and going to college, too.

In my opinion the soy flour is a no-no for Phase 1, but I would think the white sweet potatoes would be OK for Phase 2, as long as they really are sweet potatoes.

Since you are still nursing, I would stay with more of a Phase 1.5. You must make sure you are getting enough nutrients for both you and your baby and to keep up your strength, and Phase 1 is too restricted for that.

Thank you! And great point! I didn't even take the breastfeeding into consideration when I was thinking of going back on phase 1, which I should have. You're right! I will continue on Phase 1.5. And that means I get to have my microwave soy-flour cake at night!

Welcome back Melanie!

I say the sweet potatoes are indeed sweet potatoes, though white, from all I've been able to read about them. I would say no to the flour.

Congrats and

Jenn
