The 30 day shred..?
What IS it exactly? A work out regime? Does it work? I was on My Fitness Pal looking at the success stories and people kept talking about it..

It's one of Jillian Michaels' (ex-Biggest Loser trainer) workout regimes. I've never tried it, but apparently it's pretty good. Some people have mentioned it on here. I think there might be parts of it online (YouTube) but I think for the most part you have to buy the DVDs.

It's a less than 30 minute workout DVD by Jillian Michaels. There are 3 levels and all still under 30 minutes. Warm-up, cardio and strength/weight training. It was hard for me at first because of the jumping jacks and stuff, not cool with my jiggly stomach (use leggings or spandex shorts to keep it in place.) The tummy issues got better as I kept using it. Now, you can use dumbbells or without. Up to you. I will PM you the url so you can check it out before you buy (or don't buy, the url has the whole video on it.)
It basically helps you tone up, lose inches and some weight. It is HARD and I'm always drenched in sweat after a session. I personally love it and plan to go back to it once I move into my house next month (I live in an apartment on the top floor currently and am a nice neighbor, lol.)

It looks promising! Now, what other items do I need for it? I'm going to invest in some hand weights one day in life (I.E. When my job decides they want to give me a paycheck), but otherwise, what else would I need?

Hand weights- that is it. I couldn't use hand weights (only had 5lbers at the time) at first so you'll be good to go for now. Hmm, maybe a yoga mat if you really need it but I was okay on the floor without it. Good luck!!!!!

Yup! After I bought the DVD on a whim at Walmart, I decided to google it to see the reviews and was very surprised when I found the free video. I needed the DVD anyway since it has closed captioning.
Thanks, Kassie, for forwarding EricAnn the link!

I personally have been doing the 30 Day Shred, and I would highly recommend it! It is HARD! But, it's only 30 minutes, and it works!

Although I am certain everyone here knows this ... exercise doesn't burn many calories. So while you can do the 30 day shred and get into better shape it is diet that will determine your success or failure.

It's a pretty decent workout for only around 30 minutes, but I could never finish it because I got so bored with it But you have to make sure your diet is on point if it's the only exercise you do. While its a little challenging, you don't burn a lot of calories.

I'm currently doing the 30 Day Shred for the toning and intensity; I walk 4-6 miles per day as part of my daily routine anyway, but I want some more intense exercise to mix things up. I'm not in the right frame of mind to run regularly right now.

Kassiebby, I started the 30 Day Shred this week and found the 5lb weights too heavy for some of the exercises. Since money is tight, I'm using two bottles of water (from my emergency stash) for lighter weights. You could also try cans, 20oz bottles of soda or pretty much anything you can find two of and hang on to well. Good luck!

Inches were lost with this gem. 9 around my waist and more around other areas. =)
EVERY time I do this and stick to it, I lose inches, see my arms get more toned, and without fail (nothing else changing) I lose more weight as well.
Everyone says "diet" to lose weight... personally, for me... Exercise. If I don't, I NEVER drop a pound. Doesn't matter calories, kind of calories or what. I need to move in my life in order to see that scale move and this video is AWESOME for it.
It's also easy to convince yourself to do since it's under 30 minutes. I just use 3lb weights I got at K-mart for cheap and a yoga mat which I've had for ages.
