Does anybody know about soups? Some ones in particular are dried onion soup mix ( to make roasts with) and any of the cream soups. (I'm assuming that cream soups are going to out)
I would think that soups without a cream base and no white flour pastas would be okay. I love soups in the fall and winter for lunch. Would love any input
Aside from pasta, we need to remember that potatoes and white rice are off the list too. I'd check the ingredients in dried soups very carefully. I know they are very salty and could cause water retention in some of us.
Soup is very easy to make and you can control the ingredients.
Be very careful with canned soups--a lot of them contain corn syrups, starches, and flours for flavor and thickening. Also, many contain MSG as a flavor enhancer. I wouldn't say they are out across the board, just study the ingredients and nutritional labels pretty carefully. In all honesty, you are probably better off making your own soup where you know exactly what is in it.
Also take a look in Low Carb Recipes, not just the thread in this Beach forum. I am going to work on some bean soups when the weather cools and will post them - if they are good.
