Default Frustrated. Had biopsy today.

I have been doing good with exercise. The first 3 weeks I gained and now I am losing. I am down 5lbs. But I increased my exercise from 10 min to 20 min to 30-40 min a day. Now I am in a good groove of 20 min in the morning and 20 at night. But I went and had a cervical biopsy this morning and they told me no strenuous exercise for a few days. Now I am worried I will lose my progress and energy to keep up what I have been doing.

Can anyone think of simple exercise to do or should I just reduce calories from 1500 to 1000 for the few days.

I wouldn't do either. A few days of not exercising will not hurt your progress in the longrun. If you cut back that much on calories, it may backfire and lead to overeating. Just relax for a few days and eat within your normal, losing calorie range. Yes, it may be more difficult to get motivated to get back into the exercise groove, but after a couple of days back into it, you'll be fine.

they said no strenuous exercise.. are you still allowed to take light walks?

I think walks are ok. I am in more pain then I thought I would be. So maybe tomorrow I will start with walks and then Sunday ease into exercise again. With Mothers Day I know my calories will be crazy.

REST. Let your body heal. Dont trim your calories further, at worst you'll be maintaining, but you'll probably still be losing. But the body heals better with adequate food intake.

Nothing will take you out of the groove faster than pushing back in to it before you are supposed to. Because then a) it will take longer to recover and b) it will start to suck. Endorphins can not combat EVERYTHING and once you rewrite your mental association with exercise feeling pretty good and giving you energy with exercise leaving you feeling sucky, it is hard to write it back. Especially if by pushing it too hard too soon you make recovery take longer than it would if taking off a solid 3 days would have.

Sunday is not a few days if your biopsy was this morning. If walking gave you pain today then take tomorrow off and Sunday try WALKING again. When you can walk pain free, then try easing in to it and if it hurts STOP and go back to walking.

I agree with the previous posters, but also wanted to add my good thoughts to you for the biopsy. Here's hoping that you get a good report back.

My suggestion is to take a longer light walk.
