Default I just broke up with carbs, day one starts tomorrow

After a week of flip flopping between deciding if I should or shouldn't try it I decided that I am committing to two weeks of low carb. I am a carb addict and have had super bad carb cravings the past month, my weight won't drop and I can't seem to get a control of my diet. And so I've jumped on the what seems like crazy bad wagon.

Any advice I am all ears!

If you want something to do to take your mind off eating carbs . . . read! Here are some good reads: Wheat Belly, Good Calories-Bad Calories, Why we get fat. All these are great for saying good bye to bad carbs!

Wishing you luck. I have had a fairly rocky relationship with carbs, too. We broke up a while ago. lol

How low do you plan on keeping the carbs you are eating at? Just curious.

Me too! I feel amazing, little hunger or cravings on low carb days. I ate 18g carbs yesterday. Normally I'm eating 30-50. I've lost 3 lbs so far!

Canadianwoman: I've ranged between 16 and 20 since starting although I'm using MFP to count based on what I eat so I have no idea if that counts all carbs or net carbs.

Unfortunately I went high today because of a science experiment that required drinking sugar water.

So far its going well although I was tempted today because I went to lunch with some of my staff and they got sushi and cake. But I stayed strong and now I'm super happy that I did.

Carbs and I have always had a great relationship. My body thinks differently. I went to no carbs (20 a day) and in three months have lost 62lbs, The first week is hard, the second week is harder. It does eventually even out, I just end up smelling all my husbands food, they always smell better then they would look on my stomach and hips.

I started the low carb 5 weeks ago and lost 10 pounds. I LOVE carbs too, but I've come to terms that it puts weight on me supper fast and if I want the weight off I need to redefine my relationship with carbs. The first week is brutal but it does get better. My cravings are easier to control now. One of the keys for me is to have things ready to eat so I don't have to think about it when I'm hungry and make a bad choice. And, don't let yourself get so hungry that your a crazy woman. Good luck.

One of my best friends on low carb plan are the low-carb tortillas....They have 11 carbs each but I use them for breakfast wraps, tortilla mini pizzas, quesadillas, or sandwhich wraps (turkey, ham, tuna...ect). They satisfy my bread cravings. I LOVE bread!! I usually eat 1 a day for whichever meal, then have fish, shrimp, or another protien for another main meal. ALSO--there are these low carb yougurts....called "carb-master" these have 4 carbs each--only avaliable at Kroger--they are SO good and help with sweet cravings. It is the ONLY yougurt I can find here that isn't LOADED up with carbs and sugar

Dannon just came out with a low carb yogurt. I believe it is 3 NET carbs. Haven't tried it yet, but will let you know when I do.

Congrats on your journey - you can do this! Using Ketostix is a good daily motivator to me as well as searching for recipe options that my "low fat" friends can't even touch! I also downloaded a carb counting iPhone app that has been the best thing for me and is keeping me honest. I've found I'm averaging closer to 22-24 net carbs/day but still had an 8 lb. loss during week 1. Start getting excited about how that scale is going to begin dropping!!

How is it going? I starting doing a very low card diet it June and it's worked really well for me. I'm a bread person so getting rid of the bread has really stopped the physical cravings. When I smell it, I have a hard time but my diet has been going so well that I'm not really tempted to go down that road again.

My advice would be that if you're going very low carb, take a vitamin supplement and more specifically, a potassium supplement (or switch from regular salt to Morton's Lite Salt that has potassium in it). Hubby and I started very low-carb a while back and after the first week both of us were waking up with terrible, terrible charlie horses in the middle of the night from the potassium deficiency. Just a little bit from the supplement makes all the difference!

I've been doing low calorie for almost two years now..and about 20, maybe 30 pounds more to lose.
I was scarred for life from atkins when i was younger, i went on it with my parents. They did it the wrong way and ate nothing but bacon, fatty meats and cheese. No healthy oils or veggies there.
But i did my research last night, and i realized that atkins is totally not what i thought. It's a perfect diet for me. (like i said, i went on it before. and i know it works.)
I'm starting it next week, once we have more grocery money and this weekend of partying is over. (mom's bday and halloween) lol
I'm pretty excited. :3
No more calorie counting! i can't wait to see how fast the pounds come off.
