Talking Two week clothes pile Great Motivator

from the very beginning of my diet back in December ive gathered what I call my "two week pile". Clothes in smaller sizes that I try on every two weeks. Yes I know they wont fit, but each time you can see the buttons getting closer and closer together. And when they finally button and zip it is amazing!!!

everytime i "run out" of the two week pile, i restock it. it has really kept me motivated.

I do something similar. For the longest time it seemed like things werent fitting much better then all of a sudden they went all the way to being almost too big. I was amazed. I had a good body fat percentage drop recently, maybe that was why. I am definitely heading squarely into a size 10 now. In fact, I have some old 10s on today that. I must have tried on a million times before realizing they actually fit. Some 12s I bought in early March look kind of frumpy now. Soon they will definitely be too big. It's hard to know what to buy and how long to hold off. My center had a clothing swap, which I thought was a great idea.

What a great idea! I have a love/hate relationship with one pair of jeans and they are hanging in the front of my closet, all by themselves. I have tried them on every week or so for months now but I didn't start MRC until about a week ago so I bet I will get into them in a couple weeks now. I think I will reorganize my closet and add some friends to the lonely, wicked jeans!

Love it! I have a wardrobe in every size... right now, I'm working on selling the ones above size 12/14 so I don't have an excuse to get into them again... not having larger clothes would be a good motivator for me to keep my weight loss.

I like the idea of having the smaller clothes to try on as motivation... I just don't have any I could use. When I got bigger, most of my clothes were given away or were too old to use (I haven't been a size 10 since high school)... Congratulations everyone!

8-10 is my goal size. I started at 18/20 and right now im in a 13/14.
I had the same problem at first it didnt seem like the pile was getting any smaller, then all of a sudden the buttons popped in place and I wasnt holding my breath or laying on the bed doing acrobatics to do it either lol.

it simply amazes me to buy something that i assume is going to be too little and when i get home and put it on it looks sloppy because its so loose lol

i do most of my clothes shopping at thrift stores right now. no need in spending a lot of money on new clothes when im going to shrink right out of them

This is a great idea. I've considered going to a thrift store and picking up some smaller sizes for this reason, but I haven't been anywhere near my goal weight in so long, I'm not sure what size I'd be.

I have also been hitting the thrift stores. I have found it is a good idea to look through the clothes the next size smaller and if you find something, go ahead and buy them. I have been shocked at how fast I have changed sizes. Some things I had thought were too small turned out to be too large when I finally tried them on. I have been taking my clothes that are too big to sell at a thrift store, hope the money I make from that will help off set the cost of the new ones.

I do something like this as well. I hit the jackpot at Walmart once and they were selling jeans for 1.00!! Not mom jeans.. nice boot cut jeans (cant remember the brand) so I bought 1 pair from a size 16 down to a 6 ! It was fun trying them on every so often.

After I read this post I decided it was time to try on my smaller sized clothes. I think I have been putting it off for fear of them not fitting. To my surpirse I fit into items I have not been able to wear since 2008! A goal of mine was to fit into my Hudson size 31 jeans. They fit and are actually a little big in the waist - I need to wear a belt with them. I think I will now try things on every 2 weeks. Thanks for the suggestion!

What a great idea! I need some motivation to stop my 2 week long cheating spree. I will spend this weekend getting out the old sizes. I am a **shudder*** 14/16 now. I have clothes ranging from size 4 to 14 and I have been too scared to try them. I have been wearing old maternity clothes for a while so I don't have to face that number. Guess its time to get my big girl pants on - or at least try them on - ha ha!

Funny, MrsKatydid! I tried on clothes today, and was able to take another pile out of my closet to get rid of. I am pleased to be wearing size 14's. It has been a long time since I have seen that number -- was wearing 20-22's when I started this journey. I am not totally happy though. My WI on Friday was not good - gained .5 lb. I was way down that morning so I don't know what my problem is!! But, that 60 pound board is being very elusive!!

Just got back from shopping. I bought 3 pairs of jeans in sizes 10, 8, and 6. The 10 fits okay--although it's a little too tight and muffin toppy. The 8 isn't that far from being able to button. And the 6...I look at those jeans and wonder if I'll really ever be that small.

I'm so excited about trying them on every so often and being able to see the difference!
