Great recipe! I've been using greek yogurt in place of sour cream in dip recipes, so it stands to reason it would work here, too. I love greek yogurt. I eat it with frozen fruit almost every day for a snack.
I love using greek yogurt in place of sour cream or cream cheese.
It also makes a nice cheese-cake substitute mixed with sugar free jello pudding mix. I mix a small package of pudding mix into 2 cups of greek yogurt (you can stir it in wit a spoon, don't even need electric beaters).
I sometimes use a little less or a little more greek yogurt than the 2 cups. If I want it very cheesecake like in texutre I'll use less greek yogurt (about 1 to 1.5 cups). If I want it more pudding textured, I'll use more yogurt. Sometimes I add a bit of artificial sweetener or truvia. Usually this isn't necessary but some brands of greek yogurt (I buy whatever is cheapest) are a little tarter than others and likewise some brands and flavors of sugar-free pudding are sweeter than others, so you have to sweeten to your taste.
You can use regular yogurt too, but that's tarter and won't have a cheesecake texture. I like it made with the greek yogurt best.
I can do 1 part mayo to 7 parts non-fat greek yogurt and I like it just as much as straight mayo - which is a HUGE deal since I cant even stand "light" maybe. Greek yogurt is a-ma-zing!
I love ranch dressing!! I have tried this recipe and the almost identical one that uses cottage cheese in the food processor. The yogurt is easier, but I like them both for different reasons. The cottage cheese ends up with a sort of ranch meets bleu cheese type thing from the ground up curds. The greek yogurt is smoother and creamier.
I was so excited about this recipe I went and bought the ingredients and I'm making it tonight! Thank you so much OP. Ranch is my favorite condiment ever and now I don't have to waste money on crappy lowfat versions lol
what am i doing wrong? this tasted very very tangy and it was not what i was expecting. I did try the boatfarms yogurt ranch (45 cals) OMG! It was great!!!
Mmmm gonna try it for a dip for my baby carrots. I imagine it's gonna taste just like the dip I make at holidays....I use sour cream and the hidden valley ranch, no milk. I love, love, love oikos fat free plain Greek.
