Default Resistance Bands vs Dumbbells

I've been doing basic body weight based strength training but I'd like to add some resistance. What is more effective - resistance bands or dumbbells?

Thanks for your help!

I think either work well... I've tried P90x and he recommends either for that program, as there is usually a resistance band variation for each exercise. I would say it's more important to make sure you are doing the exercises correctly and that you are pushing yourself so the exercises are hard. Otherwise it's up to you

I use both. I like bands for some exercises, like rows, but I don't like using bands for shoulders.

I feel that they are different, but I don't know if one is better than the other.

used properly, they're both effective but the bands take up less space.

Bands are great for starters or for mixing up a routine. For strength training, though, I recommend weights over bands.

Overall, it depends on your goal.
