Default 'never eat these 5 foods' ads

so i'm sure you've all seen those ads for weight loss, with the crude drawing of a chunky woman that goes skinny. there is also one with "follow these rules and avoid these 5 foods to lose weight!" and they show an arrow with a cartoon drawing of a banana.

whats with that? should i not eat bananas? i ate a banana yesterday and my weight kinda shot up today. related? what the **** is going on! lol

those ads are crap.

i've seen two variants - one says no pop, no fried foods, no sweets, etc - basically, no brainer stuff. the other says things like no fruit, no dairy, etc - diet myths, essentially.

one banana - for real - is not 3500 calories plus whatever your basic metabolic needs are. it is not physically possible to gain actual weight from eating one banana.

weighing yourself daily will drive you nuts.

LOL I saw those and really am shocked they are allowed to be adds on there! Bananas are GREAT to eat...tons of potassium, which will help you reduce water retention. Full of lots of other good stuff....

It is funny how a lot of diets try to tell you not to eat certain foods (Like potatoes) when they are really good for you. (if prepared without fatty stuff!)

Bananas stall my weight loss because I'm carb-sensitive and they are very starchy, so for me bananas are off limits. That's probably why you're retaining water; the banana carbs require more water to process through your system.

I have never clicked on one of those ads, but for me, the banana thing (and the potato thing) is true. For other people, it's not. It all depends on what works for your body, and we are all very different creatures.

Also I weigh myself daily and it does not 'drive me nuts', because I understand how my body loses fat over time. Again, we're all very different, and there's no such thing as 'one size fits all' when it comes to clothes *or* diets, as we should all know very well.

I eat bananas alllllll the time. Right now I am mad I have to wait for the bananas we have to ripen because I REALLY WANT ONE. Screw those ads. I'm going to eat bananas.

Also, daily weighing only drives you nuts if you let it! Use it to learn about your body's fluctuations instead

I eat a banana every day on my oatmeal. I think different things work for different people. I eat bread if it's whole grain but many people don't. I have been eating a banana almost every day I have been dieting and I have lost weight. Is it due to the banana? no, it's due to my lifestyle change. I think the ad is just a scare tactic. I like the ad with the banana that rots so you are supposed to be even more disgusted with bananas. Has anyone ever clicked on the ad?

I also eat bananas pretty much everyday. There is no physical way bananas will make you gain. They are really good for you and filling! I have lost pretty much 40lbs with eating one a day.

A bannana does NOT cause water retention. Where do you people come up with this stuff?

I love bananas, too. I try to remind myself that for most foods, moderation is key. A nurse practitioner once lectured me for eating bananas, as well as other fruits, so for a while I wouldn't touch them. After a few weeks of missing them in my diet, I just decided they had to be better than potato chips or twinkies so I added them back in. Now, after my meal, I can eat some sliced pineapple and satisfy my sweet tooth, instead of reaching for oreo's! lol

Are they online? I think I've seen the one secret rule to loosing belly fat, pssh whatever.

Eat what ever fruit you want its hard enough work restricting myself from simple carbs and junk food I am not going to put mental energy into trying to avoid fruit of all things.

LOLOLOL! How can you read that and *not* sing it in your head?

ETA: I eat bananas like Friar Tuck eats turkey legs. Hasn't stopped my 45lbs in 35 days loss.
