Good thread!

I don't see how anyone keeps a clean home especially the ones with kids!

It is me, my boyfriend and a fair number of fur babies - 2 dogs and 3 cats. The dogs do not shed which helps but 2 of the cats are Maine Coons which more than makes up for the non shedders. We are not in a large home - about 1200 sq ft but I can never get a handle on the housework!

Today after work I need to do the following-

- Stop by the market on the way home for a couple of things for dinner

- Gather ALL the things, in various boxes, that need to be donated. Load them in the car

- Clean out a bunch of glass candle jars. I have been avoiding this for weeks and tomorrow is recycling day

- Take compost to outside bin

I use house cleaning as an extreme sport LOL If I can't do much working out in the week, I make up for it by running loads of laundry up 3 flights of stairs a few items at a time ~ it adds up!

Spring Cleaning weekend!!

All appliances moved & cleaned
all baseboards & walls & windows washed
carpets cleaned (don't have many)
all closets turned out and old stuff given away to Good Will
take down & clean all curtains & blinds

and then head outside to clean up all the weird stuff that gets left behind after the snow melts (not that we had much in Ontario this year woot!)

Happy Cleaning!

ps. best tip I've had lately -- we own a few rental properties, and cleaning them after people leave can be a nightmare! For particularly GRUNGY soap-scummy bathtubs -- Easy Off NO SMELL Oven Cleaner!! spray the white foam on, leave for 15 minutes or so, and wipe off - utterly amazing I have to say! sparkly clean and no scrubbing!

What timing! I've been planning on starting some spring cleaning this very day and could certainly use some extra motivation.

We're swapping dining room sets with the in-laws today. I hate our teeny little glass-top table and they're moving and won't have room for their wooden one. So I'd like to make the house at least somewhat presentable, lol. I need to clear off the table (shouldn't be so bad, there's not much to deal with there), and I also want to pick up the living room, dust, clean the bathroom, and get some vacuuming done. I also want to clean the kitchen more (started on that yesterday) and get some laundry done but they're not the priority.

It sucks . . . I've been sick on and off for a few weeks and the place goes all to h3ll because of it.

My roommate moves out April 21st and I need to tidy up for when my new roommate gets here a month later.

I still haven't done anything toward fixing the backyard for BBQs, and likely won't get to it this week since I'm going to CT for Passover with my bf.

I'm so unmotivated to clean right now. I'm reading this thread for inspiration.
I have such a backload of laundry right now. I absolutely love putting it in the machines but HATE taking it out (LOL, know what I mean?)
It's like you feel like your getting something accomplished by putting it in (low effort, magically clean) but then comes the UGGGHHHHHHH FOLDING and UGGGGHHHH PUTTING AWAY.
It is absolutely mind-blowing how my husband and son can generate so much laundry. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?!??! IT NEVER ENDS!!!!
Rant over.

Jelma: Yep -- it is ongoing! Fending back the tides!

Trazey34 -- haha. Extreme sport indeed!

Elladorine: HOw did the dining set swap go?

krampus: Was passover nice? How's the new roomie cleaning thing coming along?

MiZTaCCen:
Yay! Just doing what you can pays off!

Pepino:My prob is couch sitting. I can wash, dry, flip the next load, fold it all at the couch but then people around here can't seem to do the last bit. I've even FOLDED it. Just put YOURS away! Becuase I'm tired now.
So I sympathize.

Alright. It's monday. That's my big marathon day. Peeps breakfasted and out of my hair and launced into their days. Now I get my own breakfast and get going. Wish me luck!

  • decluttered hallway floor
  • put away clean dishes.
  • dirty dishes to run in dishwasher
  • folded kids clothes
  • eat my breakfast
  • Clear phone table, put that junk away, dust the table
  • put in order online

Ok, I'm started... TONS to go. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh.

Another break.

I green clean since I have PCOS/IR and want to reduce chemical/hormone load. So I just use baking soda for both oven and bathtub. Scrubs stuff right off, and with a good rinse it just all clears out. If for some reason baking soda lingers, it's edible. I'm not worried about it touching my skin in the tub or worried about it getting in my food.
  • Vac bedroom, hallway, bathroom
  • steam mop bedroom, hallway, bathroom
  • put sheets to dry, put towels to wash
  • scrubbed toilet
  • scrubbed tub/wall tiles
  • clean sink/mirror areas
  • get trash out of bathroom
  • put in shower curtain, bath mats to wash.
  • Stick towels to dry
  • Count boxes left

Ugh. I also went around the rooms to count the boxes left to unpack/declutter. I lost count of how many I've already done, but I did remember the 7 I dropped off this last week to donate. But there's sooo much left. If I could lose a lb per box my WEIGHT goal would be so much further along.

Taking a break before I deal with getting the sheets back on bed. If I can reboot the house from the weekend maybe I can spend some of the rest of the week knocking out another bunch of boxes. Ugh ugh ugh.

No wonder I get depressed and cranky. 3 people live here and I feel like they only one dealing with DECLUTTER. DH just bought the kid two NEW toys this weekend. Yargh!

So I bought these Mr. Clean magic erasers! They made cleaning my bathroom so much fun! I'm not even kidding it didn't even feel like a chore! So my bathroom is done, I need to get back to my kitchen because It's a mess again! lol

I also want to go through my closet and get rid of everything I don't wear!
Throw it all in one big bag then when I hit up Value Village again drop it off there!

You're all so inspiring!!
Yesterday I organized my shelves in the pantry. (I live with a roommate, and we have the pantry shelves divided up.) I got some plastic bins and that helps so much!

Today
-Going to grocery after work to get mostly fruits & veggies
-Cleaning new tupperware
-Cutting up fruit and veggie so I can put it in the tupperware for the week. SO much easier when making my lunch! I'll grab a container of fruit and a container of veggies and a couple other things; good to go!

Long term goals for the week
-mop kitchen floor/wipe down counters
-vacuum bedroom, dust as needed
-clean bathroom/tub/counters/mirror/etc
-dust in living room/kitchen as needed

I also have a pretty big pile of laundry, so I need to tackle that soon.

MiZTaCCen -- you go! Closet clutter conquered!

Quiet Ballerina: Sounds like you got the plan for the week! Yay!

Did another laundry flippage.
Went out for groceries and dropped things at UPS so that's errands for today.
Ate lunch, took meds.
vac kitchen
steam mop kitchen
scrub counters
scrub stove top
Now I'm break again and then have to get kid at school.
