Default March 2012: Housekeeping Thread

Monday again and I have a headache and I STILL have to pull the house together after a busy weekend.

So I'm posting my hit list again to motivate me through it today.

Anyone ANY time this month who needs to just feel free to join in.

I'd be more than happy to cheer you along in whatever "house stuff" you've got going on!

A.

--------------

DONE SO FAR:
  • Launched my peeps to work and school
  • ate breakfast
  • flip clothes over to dryer
  • bung sheets in to wash
  • vac the master bedroom, hallway, bathroom
  • mop vac the master bedroom, hallway, bathroom
  • clean toilet, sink, tub
  • Take break -- headache, ugh.

I'm in the process of doing laundry right now. I also have to change the bed, and rinse out soda cans before they get put out to recycle.
Hand wash bras and panties, put away laundry when it's done, clean the bathroom. This will probably take me all week to do, but I want my living area in tip top shape.

Woot! Go CanadianCutie!

I'm eating lunch now. So my latest check in is...
  • vac foyer and kitchen
  • mop foyer and kitchen
  • load up dishes to wash, put away clean ones
  • Flip wet to dry and dump the dry, clean ones on couch (I save my laundry on the couch to fold at night when I watch TV)
  • Load quilt to wash.
  • Make lunch. Take break to eat it.

I'm trying to find the mental oomph to tackle kid's room. It's UGGGGH in there. My LEAST fav room in the house!

I'm so done with house stuff. Other than folding laundry later, I am BEAT.

Cleaned microwave
Reboot dishwasher
Put away clean dishes
Scrub all kitchen counters
Clean stove top
Flip the wash to dry, dump clean on bed, make bed with same sheets
Throw in towels to wash

Now it's get kid at school, get haircuts, get groceries. I hope!

What I did today:

Dishes-handwashed and put away
Cooked-dinner (whole chicken, rapini and sweet potatos)
Cleaned toilet and sink in the bathroom.
Cleaned green bin
Swept kitchen floor
Cared for cats
Grocery shopped and put food away

Need to do this week:
Laundry (live in a second floor walk up and so have to brave the stairs to the laundry room in the basement-so I do only 1 or 2 loads at a time)
Wash wig
vacuum

Today is the day I clean house, maybe breaking it down and checking it off one at a time would help?

pick up clutter off floors - including putting bath stuff in bathtub
sweep back porch - give dog fresh water
shake out kitchen/bath rugs
vac around baseboards/edges
vac area rugs - get them out of the way
vac hardwoods, kitchen, bath
mop kitchen/bath
clean bathroom
mop hardwoods
finish in bath
put everything away/back where it belongs

This takes me most of the day but vacuuming/mopping hurts my back so I do it in stages, resting, eating lunch, goofing off on computer between stages.

I started cleaning out kitchen cabinets last week so I need to finish that sometime this week.

For some reason I always feel grossed out cleaning my (not so new anymore) apt. I think cause I'm 100% responsible -no sharing of chores-so if I don't clean it, its not getting done and I always think "I"M responsible for this grime build up??? EW"
Anyways, I do regular wipe downs of the bathroom sink and table, take out trash and laundry weekly, but I always have to remember
1.) Cleaning pots and pans
2.) Floors
3.) Bathroom
4.) Putting away the house things I buy
5.) Sheets/pillowcases/blankets
6.) Fridge
and the toilet bowl (gag)

Wow, I admire you industrious chicks!

I let the new drapes hang for 6 weeks to see if the fold marks were going to hang themselves out. They didn't. I'm giving myself til the end of the month to iron the 4 panels (oh, how I HATE ironing!!!)

Tonight is de-clutter night for the housecleaners that come in tomorrow. In order to reasonably achieve this, I need to get three baskets of laundry folded and put away.

In addition, I need to replace the hose on my SelectComfort bed (that dear bunny chewed through) so that I can move back into my bedroom and sleep in my own bed again, and thus get my stuff out of the living room and off the couch where it's been for a week.
