Default Favorite Salad Ingredients

Keeping with the salad theme. What do you like to put on your salad? What is the absolute must have items in your salad bowl?

My favorite salads usually have spinach, dried cranberries, sunflower seed kernels, almonds, red onions and some kind of pepper in it! Yum!

Onion I guess. I make various salads.
1 grate carrots, put some tiny tomatoes or pieces of tomatoes, put some rasins
Plain yogurt, salt and pepper.
2 grate green or violet cabbage, throw some chopped onion, salt pepper,
Olive oil.

Greens, but only as a bed. I like crunchies... celery and radishes mostly. Green olives occasionally.

I like spicy dressing. I'll add a shot of sriracha to blue cheese or ranch dressing for my salads.

There are no must haves. The are just so many options for salads. I guess, most of the time, for me, it would be high quality olive oil, but if the veggies are fresh, it all can taste wonderful.

Tonight I made a salad for the family as our dinner (which wass light as we had our main meal midday). It we red leaf and green leaf lettuce, purple onion, grape tomatoes, green pepper, hard boiled egg, an avocado, dried cranberries, slivered almonds and a drizzle of olive oil, red wine vinegar, fresh ground black pepper and salt. It was delicious. And I'll probably never make it exactly like this again because nearly every time I use something different - using what I find the freshest and on hand.

Not a must have because I don't always have them, but I LOVE snow peas on my salads! Spinach has become my standard "base" sometimes just that sometimes with some iceburg lettuce to bulk up the amount a bit.. I'm not a fan of any other lettuces.

I alternate between loving salads and not eating them for weeks
When I'm into a salad phase, I use any combination of baby spinach, red or green leaf lettuce, and romaine for the greens. For the rest, I always like green onion, cucumbers, peppers (red is my fave), and tomatoes. If I have it, I also love carrot shreds and celery pieces. I sometimes put in some goat cheese if I'm trying to add protein or a veggie chicken patty cooked and cut up.
I'm a big fan of Gorgonzola cheese, candied pecans, and pear chunks with a good romaine base and some thin slices of white onion with a sweet poppyseed kind of dressing. Of course, this would be a big splurge now....

I always use baby spinach for a base and throw in some baby lettuces. I usually chop up broccoli and cauliflower and always add some kind of nuts, usually walnuts and almonds. The other ingredients typically vary; sometimes I add chicken breast, grated cheese, or something like dried cranberries. If I add croutons I make sure I use whole grain ones. And for my dressing I use balsamic vinegar and olive oil.

I love salad. I make all different types but my favorite salad would include greens, some type of meat (usually chicken), nuts, fresh or dried fruit, and oil & vinegar dressing.

Feta cheese! I rarely have a salad without it. Tonight for dinner I had baby greens, chicken (light & dark), feta, roasted red peppers, and balsamic vinaigrette.

After reading some of your posts my salad sounds pretty boring:

Greens (according to my mood it can be iceberg, spinach, or baby leaf)
Tomatoes
Cucumbers
Bell Pepper
Red Onions
1/4 cup of cheese
1 Hard Boiled Egg
10-12 croutons
2 Tbsp of Dressing

Pretty much the only thing that ever changes is the greens and the dressing.

I love having hard boiled egg, cheese (usually part skim mozza) and pecans in my salads. I have to be careful with the pecans though, only a small amount. Usually I'll have spinach and romaine (so boring, I know!) and maybe some real bacon bits (again, a small amount), tomatoes, carrots and dressing. Pretty standard stuff.
