Default How much did you lose before you started feeling comfortable with yourself?

I know most people are working toward an ultimate goal of a certain weight or the healthy range or whatever, but did you start feeling good about yourself before that? If so, around when did it happen?

When I hit 230 so about 120 pounds. I was still bigger then what is considered normal, but I looked "Thick" Not fat. Just something about that weight that clicked, and I started becoming more comfortable with myself. I started not letting myself be held back by what I thought people would think of me.

Of course this is such an individual thing, but the first time I lost weight it was around 180 when I started to feel like I didn't look *huge*. I started to feel 'normal', I guess, for lack of a better word. I'm so short that I was still really big at 180, but I had more confidence because *I* knew how far I'd come.

When I got to 150 I felt fantastic, even though I was still overweight. Alas, I lost sight of that and clearly gained back a lot of weight. But I'm working back towards 180, and I have more confidence (and more strength) this time around, so it's not so bad.

I think I started to feel comfortable in my body when I was almost to 200 (I'm 5 ft 10 in with fairly thin legs, so I appear smaller than I actually am if I dress right). It was almost like what I was seeing in the mirror reflected how I *felt* I looked or something, which was more comfortable than looking in the mirror or at a picture and being like WHO IS THAT?! when I was at my highest weight.
I cannot wait to get to 170.

hmmm It seems like two different questions - when did I 'feel good about myself' had NOTHNG TO DO with what weight I was, I was awesome at 323 and that didn't change heheheh As to when I felt comfortable in my own body, it honestly didn't take that much! I was 323, and once I got down to about 298 (only 25 pounds) i felt light as a feather -- NUTTY i know, but that bulge under my boobs pressing on my ribs or heart or whatever was gone and I could breathe easier and get around better. After the next 25 or so I thought I was hot stuff LOL Still weighed more than the heavyweight champ of the world but hey!

I'm with Trazey34.

I've always felt good about myself. Self-esteem, confidence, that kind of stuff? That goes in my mental fitness bucket.

That's not my body fitness bucket. Now in the body fitness bucket? Hrm. Somewhere around 240 (I've lost weight before and then regained) is the threshold for the joint paint to chill. Then I feel better about that.

I don't remember what I weighed before when the "dealing with a poochie tummy thing" chilled out. Like to bend over to tie shoes without it being annoying. I'll try to take better notes this time on that.

HTH!
A.

I felt really good every ten pound weight bracket I reached. 210 to 200, 200 to 190, 190 to 180, and so forth. Every time I dropped into the next weight range I felt better and better. I felt pretty darn comfortable in the 160's where I maintained for quite some time before putting on weight due to meds. This time I'm having such a hard time losing, but I remember feeling pretty comfortable in my body in the 160's, still a little overweight, but I looked good and healthy and I felt so proud of myself!

For me it was probably around 185-180. But that also had to do with guys becoming more attracted to me (shallow, I know). That built confidence and it's sort of snowballed from there.

Downside - I have just "maintained" for about 2 months now. I'm really still at 179-180 because I keep eating more than I should. I still weigh every few days and try not to go crazy but because I'm pretty happy and comfortable with myself I'm less motivated to lose. Ug!

That said, I keep thinking how it's "just" 20 more pounds till I know I'll be pretty thin and happy. I will look amazing in 20 pounds.. if I can just get myself back on track!

At least I appear to have gotten vain enough I'm not too worried about regaining.. but I'd really like to keep losing.

I have lost 44 pounds and still am not comfortable in my body. The weight loss has however made lots of things easier to accomplish on a daily basis.
