Who knows anything about US state laws and part time/full time work?
My job is salaried at 29 hours. If I work more than that, stat law says I have to be offered benefits.
Of course I work more than that.
My personal training will now take me well over the 29 hours and I asked about being full time.
They said no. They can't afford it.
I did some calculating and if I were to go to part time and work the actual 29 hours, I would be making only $60 less per week. AND I would aleviate myself from 90% of the frustrating responsibility of my job.
I would be able to be in control of exactly when I work instead of being responsible to fill in when another worker doesn't show up. I'm talking about coming in to open at 5:30 am or close at 9pm when I'm supposed to be sleeping. It doesn't happen much, but there's nothing worse than hearing the phone ring at those times and I have to drive in to do somebody else's duty. I could go on and on.
So my question is, how do I get around the 29 hour thing? Is it possible to work salaried AND part time? I'd just like to get paid for what I do. If not, then why am I doing this?
