Default Veggie Teams Challenge- Week 5

And here they are, the results for Week 4 of our Challenge:

Team 2 had the highest pounds lost with a total of 7.2 lbs!!! Collectively, Team 2 lost 0.8 % of their body weight. Congratulations Team 2!

Collectively, Team 1 lost 4.5 lbs and 0.6% of their body weight. Good job!
jessicado22 and twish both lost 1.1% of their body weight- jessicado22 lost 3 lbs and twish lost 2.8 lbs.

We all lost this week. Let's hope for a repeated success over the coming week. So far, our teams are taking turns winning from one week to the next- no clear front-runner as of yet. We still have several weeks to go...

Any particular challenges anyone is facing this week? Any rants to share?

I haven't worked out for almost 2 weeks. I just can't find the motivation. I have a gym membership, and once I get to the gym it's great I work out, burn some calories. But I just never feel like going. A lot of it is timing issues. I work full time and I'm also a fulltime student so I constantly feel like in my spare time I either need to be studying or sleeping and this mentality is getting in the way of me getting to the gym. (Actually, it's probably all and excuse, I'm just lazy when it comes to exercise, and I get bored with it.) I'm going to make myself go today since I am off work, maybe bring some of my reading for this week and get it done while I'm on the elliptical or something. =/

Katherine, some exercise will help you to study better. Think of it as an educational boost.

Well done Team 2.

Wow, you know when you put that it is over 1% it made me realize what a big difference 3 pounds can be! Here I've been sort of beating myself up for not losing weight faster. But if I were to think of it as 1% of my weight...that makes it seem better in my mind for some reason!

My biggest challenge this week is cravings. I cheated last Sat and ate pizza...and now the cravings are really getting to me! I didn't actually go over my calories for the day, but just eating that stuff always makes me have cravings for a few days. Did good Sunday and today though, so hopefully things will get better!

I have a cheat or treat day as I prefer to call it every week. And I eat everything but in limited quantities. I do try to limit desserts to once a week but if I have a cookie during the week I just try and squeeze it into my calorie count. I can't live on a diet all the rest of my life so I'm just limiting the quantities of the high calorie food and eating larger quantities of the low calorie foods.

Jess, if you have pizza, have it but limit it to a piece and have a big salad or a piece of fruit to go along with it. Don't look at it as a cheat because then you will crave it. We usually crave food because we think we can't have it. Think of it as just a normal piece of food that you can eat and you can have again another day or week.

Great job team 2!!!
My challenge this week is that I stopped my walking dvd's for this week. My ankle was feeling funny so I decided to give it a rest. I have started to do a pilates dvd and it is hard and challenging but not sweaty. I worry that it isn't the calorie burn that the walking was. I can really feel my muscles after the workout. We will see for weigh in on Friday. Also I am going out of town for the weekend and that is always challenging for me. After I get back, I am going to start my walking DVD's alternating with my pilates so I am not doing weight bearing exercise every day. I had been meaning to incorporate pilates into my exercise routine to tone my stomach and this is a great chance to do it. My goal this week is to maintain. If I can do that, I will be happy with my efforts.
Jess- I have pizza 1x per week. I do thin crust and only have a set amount.I have it figured in my calories.

Tomorrow's the big weigh in, lol. I don't think I've lost anything. I just have that feeling. And I'm feeling really full right now even though I'm not off plan and I'm actually below calories today. Wish I felt full all the time.

So far I've surpassed my Valentine's Day goal of losing 1 pound a week and as for the bike riding my goal was 250-300 kilometres and I've gone about 280 so far. How has everyone else done?

Thanks Madame Souza and retiredone -- that's one of my struggles this time is changing my thinking about food. Last time I lost weight, I did great and lost fast...but I ate 100% healthy all the time, and then when I did finally cave, I just binged and binged and then just stayed off the wagon for years until half the weight came back on. So this time trying to not think of a little "cheating" here and there as being a bad thing, but just the way of normal life!

I did also realize all the cravings were due to it being that TOM, ha ha. Wondered why they were so bad!

Checking in early as we're leaving for the weekend -- down to 255!!!!! Which is amazing considering it is still TOM...I'm still not sure how a 3.5 lb loss happened, but I'll take it!

Weighing in at 194. up 1 lb. I am going away this weekend so here's hoping for maintenance instead of loss. I am going to give it my best.
