I made an appointment with my endocrinologist last month to discuss why my Metformin was making me so sick. She was treating me for confirmed insulin resistance and PCOS, and the Metformin had really been helping me keep my blood sugar under control during the year I'd been taking it. Well, she ordered a glucose tolerance test to evaluate my insulin resistance levels. I got a call today, and it turns out that the Metformin had been making me sick because my insulin levels are fine. I'm not insulin resistant anymore!
This is so exciting to me because I don't have to take Metformin, and I have reduced my risk of getting diabetes by a whole lot. My weight loss might make me feel good, but it's nothing compared to the knowledge that it's helping my health.
