Default Goal......Being realistic

I would love to lose 15lbs this month but I know its impossible. I figured that 8lbs would be great. I plan on going to the gym at least 3-4 times a week if my kids and husbands schedule allows me. I am going to start eating better, eating only once a day is not good for me at all and I know this and I think thats why I have stalled out at 230lbs for the last few months. I am going to put this in writing because if its in writing I will follow it.

1.Eat more then once a day
2.Go to the gym regularly
3.Loose 8lbs by February 15th
4.Be positive no matter what!

Those all sound like great, realistic goals. Good luck!

It sounds like you're making some great changes in your life! There was actually an article posted recently that found that those who most successful maintained weight loss at regular meals + snacks a day. I think it can definitely help (I know it's helped me!).

BTW, don't beat yourself up over the magic number 8. I've lost a lot of weight and have never pulled off such a high number in a month!!! Normally I lose between 2-4lbs/month and ever blue moon I'll lose up to 5lbs (normally followed by a 2lb/month loss..). Its better to focus on the awesome changes you are making and celebrate every pound loss no matter the speed. Time is going to pass no matter what so why not lose weight while it does even if it isn't quickly?

Runningfromfat thats been my down fall is only eating once a day. Like today I ate when I got home from work, which was 4:30pm and then I went to the gym. I should set an alarm on my phone that goes off every 2-3hrs to eat..LOL
I know loosing weight is a up and down roller coaster, you have good months and you have bad. Thats why I dont plan on stressing over it that much, stress can lead to weight gain too....

Thanks Ladies!

The phone idea sounds really good. My DH is the same and will forget to eat if someone doesn't remind him. Thankfully we work together so that's not a problem but if I'm gone for whatever reason there's a good chance he'll forget!

If you work at a computer you could also get regular email reminders (using google calender for example).

I think thats a great goal. I too have a mini-dry-erase board next to my bedroom door and a calendar that has my workout schedule and plan on it as well. I write down my mini-goals on the dry erase board so every time I pass my bedroom door or leave my room I see it and keeps me accountable. I always ask myself did I do any of these today..

Start a free diet blog! It may keep you on track by writing it all down. 8 pounds is achievable but you have to commit to eating healthy choices and eating regularly every 2-3 hours with mini meals and working out at least 30 minutes 5 days a week. I've just completed two weeks of healthy eating and exercise and have already dropped 4.4 pounds! You can do this!
