Default How do YOU earn activity points?

Just curious...I see some people post how they burn 2000 calories in a workout...or earn 15-20 AP's per day.....How in the world? If I do the elliptical for 2 hours I would only earn like 7....so how do people earn so many and what is your daily/weekly workouts?
Thanks so much! Amanda

Biking for 50 minutes earns me 10 points. Biking for 2 hours earns 20. A 2 hour ride this weekend burned 1200 calories.

It depends on your weight and the intensity of the activity.

Are you logging your points as low, medium, or high intensity? If you are just strolling along on the elliptical that's low. If you are giving it your all or doing intervals, that'd be high.

I guess maybe I just am strolling on the elliptical and bike .... I usually sweat....but not what I would classify as "high" intensity .... i forget what classifies each of the levels of intensity....

Sweating within 10 minutes and deep breathing = medium intensity.

Sweating within 3-5 minutes and rapid & deep breathing = high intensity.

My new routine is bodyrock 3-5 days/week (it's high intensity body-weight interval weight training). Kickboxing M/W/F & Zumba T/Th for cardio, and yoga sprinkled throughout. I earn roughly 6-8 points a day.

I usually jog/walk on the treadmill or do the elliptical/arc trainer for times between an hour/90 minutes. I count all my exercise as low intensity even though I know that jogging on the treadmill would be considered at least medium intensity. I would rather err on the side of caution.

Most programs, machines, calorie calculators etc. overestimate calories burned. Getting a heart rate monitor will get you a more accurate calculation but nothing is 100% true.

For awhile I was doing the elliptical in my building and I'd do it for 30 min maybe 3 or 4 times a week. But for the past few weeks I've been "lazy" and just been using my Wii Fit. I do it for about for 45 min to an hour about 4 or 5 times a week. It's obviously lower intensity, but my overall time over the course of the week is more/longer when I do the Wii Fit (versus the elliptical) and apparently it's working.

At some point I realize I'll have to bump up again to more intense workouts, but I'm okay with it for now.

I do elliptical - interval training 6-7 days a week for 65 min (5 is cool down). But then a few days I week I only do the elliptical interval training for 50 min then do circut training for 30. I really don't know how many activity points this is. I know the interval training is high intensity since I am sweating in less than 5 and only dream of talking in a few words at a time

I do brisk walking (4 MPH), 90 minutes, five or six days a week. I earn 7 APs for each session. I've seen posts by people who earn 15-20 APs a day, too, and while I think that's admirable, there's no way I'd be able to do that. I'm fine with my 7 a day.
