Thumbs down Daily SBD Thread, Tuesday, July 15th

Good Morning All you Chicks on the Beach!!!

While in my handy dandy, round the corner market, I found LF Quark. Now, mind you, I'be been looking for it - but now I have it and don't remember what recipe I needed it for! I'll ponder it later.

I've set foot, tentatively, in P2 - added a drink (well, 2) b/c I had some major dental work done yesterday and promised it to myself while it seemed they were drilling for oil in my mouth. eesh! - the dental assistant gave me some super size advils to take for the pain and they worked but I had the vodka anyway. On my way home from the gym this morning, I plan to get some blueberries as my P2 addition for today.

So, time to get my gym footwear on and get going. I'll check in with y'all later!

Have a glorious day on the Beach Chicks!

Quark! I'd forgotten about that. I used to mix it with chopped onion and paprika and make a spread. Hmmmmmmm.

Anna, wash your mouth out - not with vodka! I adore blueberries and am longing for some. The strawberry season is over around here but the raspberries will be ready for Phase 2 next week, I hope. LindaBC ssays the blackberries will be ready when I go to visit her in August. Can you tell my life centres around food?

A little warning about soy sauce, even the "lite". I did stir-fried pork and veggies last night and managed to go up two pounds overnight! Alas! Water, water, water today.

My challenge today will be the BBQ at the Fairgrounds after the cleanup bee. I am seriously considering taking my own lettuce leaves to wrap the burger or dog. They all think I am eccentric anyhow! I know the burgers will not be sirloin but think I'll go for that instead of the wieners. NEVER read the ingredient list on cheap wieners. What the heck are "chicken byproducts"? Please don't answer that! The mind boggles.

I need to get cracking on some more weeding before it gets too darn hot. Today will be an AC day once again so I'll weed early and then do inside stuff for the rest of the morning.

Have a good day on the beach, Beach Babes.

Talking Good morning all my new fabulous friends!

Looks like today is going to be a good one! Claudette won't be visiting us , and I'm buying some new dining chairs.

I am still hanging in there with Phase 1. Today I start day 6, but I haven't really lost any since those initial pounds the first 2 days. I've got to get my bohunkus moving; it has always helped me speed up weight loss before.

One thing I have been doing that really helps is prepare some food for the next day the night before. I go ahead and cut up some vegetables for salad and roasting. I even cook some meat. It's so much easier to eat healthy when you prepare it ahead of time because a lot of times I just don't want to take the time to make a salad during the day when I'm in the middle of doing something.

Well, I'm off to start the day. Got to get the kids out of the house today or we'll both go bonkers.

Have a great day friends and let the loosing begin!

Oh yeah.....what in the world is quark?

Hi Ruthie!

I just had my first BLUEBERRY and thought of you . They were the best ever... and now they're all gone.

Have a great time at the BBQ - as for hot dogs - I've been getting FF kosher franks and grilling them on the GF and they are deelish esp with some good Dijon mustard. Taking your letuce along to the BBQ is a good idea - you might even start a trend!

Aren't you in Canada? Isnt it supposed to be cooler there than here? What about the Canadian front????

Anyhoo, have a great time - just a few more days and you'll be in P2.

See ya later.

Tippy, Quark is a soft unripened cheese that is much like ricotta or not-creamy cream cheese. There is also a kind of farmers' cheese that is similar - like cottage cheese but not lumpy.

Anna, what Canadian front? You Americans just use us an excuse for lousy weather. Our weather is much like upper NY state weather. The bridge to the States is a 20 minute drive from here! We change out of our furs and sealskin boots before we pay the bridge toll.

Tracey, I should follow your lead and prep food the night before. It's so easy to just skip a meal or eat the wrong thing if you are unprepared.

Gotta get going. I did walk the dogs but the garden is calling!

Quark is a yogurt cheese - it's the consistency of sour cream and, according to the package, may be substituted for sour cream, cream cheese, ricotta etc in recipes.

There's recipe on the package for a dip which is equal amounts of quark and salsa... sounds good to me!

It comes in regular, low fat and fat free varieties. I now have it but I still don't remember what I was going to use it for - although the di does sound good!

Quark is a German word for this type of cheese (got my info from the package!).

Default Day 2

Help me out here!

I did pretty good yesterday, or so I thought.
I weighed myself this morning and am up 1 pound!
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm- how did that happe?

The only think I drank was Propel fitness water - 3 carbs ,10 calories- I am trying to get 8 glasses of water but am having a hard time. I thought this would be ok.

I had lentils and tofu, hummus, a salad for lunch with oil and vinegar dressing. No cheese. (I should have had cheese though)
I had the same lentils and collard greens for dinner- late though - like 9:00 because I got home from work late.

I drank at least 30 ounces of water which is great for me!
My body must be holdong on tothat 'cause it doesn't know when it will get it again!

Right now, I have a wicked headache- probably 'cause I didn't have my morning Pepsi!

I do not want to give up so soon.

Tootsie,

How often do you weigh? I weigh no more than once a week because the fluctuations for no apparent reason drive me nuts. I even try to go every 2 weeks.

Hi everyone!

I have not disappeared. I am deep in bar review. Two weeks to the bar!!!

I actually lost the advertised 13 lbs in phase one. I NEVER lose what everyone else loses on a food plan. I am simply amazed. I do exercise about 4 x a week (treadmill, swimming, weights) and maybe that helped but I've exercised on other plans and nothing much happened. THIS IS GREAT!!!

I am now in phase 2. It was nice to have strawberries!!! I did switch my protein drink to nectar protein which has zero carbs but I like to add some frozen strawberries to the cherry flavor. It has a nice zing.

I'm pretty happy with SBD overall.

The first two weeks can be tough, I think I was wilting by day 12 but I hung in there and it was WORTH IT!!! KEEP GOING EVERYONE!!!

Stay OP and the results are great!

I like to make things ahead too. When I am sauteeing peppers, onions, mushrooms etc. to add to my eggs in the a.m., I make a whole bunch and put it in the fridge. Then the next day I just have to cook the eggs and dump it in without chopping more stuff up. I love an omelet with 1 egg plus 2 whites, with the chopped veggies and a "mushed up" piece of laughing cow cheese inside. Yummy!

Wink newbie - no more eggs!

First time poster - hope I'm doing this right.

Only on day 2, and will gag if I have to eat another egg.

Any suggestions for someone who needs grab-and-go type stuff w/o alot of prep?

Darn - I just wrote a nice long reply only to have computer lock up upon submitting. Oh well - work calls so I'll have to skip the individuals and just wish you all another great day on the beach.

Wanted to mention that I just picked up my first copy of the new Eating Well. Love the ad-free format and hope everyone else does too so it will be around for a while. Also was happy to see that their recipes are really leaning toward whole grains.

Good morning everyone!!!!

Added a small whole grain roll last night, and it set me off. i think I need to have more protein at dinner and have a bit of bread with the salad at lunch or something.
