Thanks! I have to go because my insurance (Healthy Blue from Blue Cross) requires if you are obese (which according to the doctors me and my husband are) we had to commit to WW weigh in's (meetings if we want to stay) or a pedometer program you have to attach to computer and it keeps track to make sure you average 5,000 steps a day or more. I chose WW and my husband chose the pedometer (I wear the pedometer though LOL). Next year if we are both still obese (hopefully I won't be) we will both choose WW as it is easier to go weigh in there weekly then the damn pedometer that I have almost lost a gazillion times already!

That's intrusive of your insurance company - have they sent smokers to cessation classes? I think this is the wave of the future, and its invasive to say the least. Congrats on the weight loss.

Congrats on the weight loss!! It is definitely reassuring.

On a side note:
My medical insurance charges smokers nearly double what non-smokers pay. Either you sign up for a smoking cessation class or you pay more. It's them trying to save themselves costs in the future.

It is the wave of the future for insurance. We are all getting heavier...even our children. We are going to have to pay one way or another.

Great going on the weight loss!

yup smokers have to join the quit the nic program! And yes I don't HAVE to do it but my insurance would cost almost double if we didn't! Plus I realize it is in my best interest to lose the weight anyway so they aren't wrong haha!

I can't tell if I am appalled or intrigued. I wish insurance companies were as proactive about other things like dental health and women's health!

Wow that is something! What happens if you go to thw ww weigh ins and never lose any weight? Is there some kind of penalty for not getting the 5000 steps a day?
But anyway, congrats on your loss! 1 week on the beach, you're doing great!

The penalty for the steps is your insurance goes back up, the stupid thing is even though it is a really good pedometer you can still sit and shake it to reach your 5,000 LOL. With the WW you just have to make it every 11 out of 13 meetings. So nope supposedly no penalty if you don't lose....they change our insurance each year or re-evaluate it so who knows what will happen this year!
