Pizza hates me
So I went out for dinner last night for a friend's birthday. I decided I would eat at maintenance calories for the day so I could enjoy the evening out with my friends. The party started at 8pm so I ate supper at my normal time of 5:30 and decided to share a meal with my husband and another friend at the restaurant. The three of us shared a pizza intended to serve one person (don't even get me started on restaurant portions) and I had one drink.
When we got home, I felt awful. Stomach cramps, bloating, and just general ickyness. To make matters worse, I weighed myself this morning and I am up 3 pounds from yesterday! Clearly related to the bloat so I'm not worried about it but talk about a mood killer.
Has anyone else noticed that as they eat healthier they don't enjoy the bad foods anymore.

Yes, my body is A LOT more sensitive to restaurant food, especially if I get a hamburger or something with a lot of cheese.

Yes. I have to say, a lot of foods like pizza gave me indigestion, even before I lost weight. Now they just seem not worth eating for any reason. My gym has free pizzas on the first Monday of the month, and they just look awful to me. I have no interest, free or not.

Same here. My body absolutely hates food that's too oily and alcohol. My stomach goes mad and I'm stuck in the loo hehe

I've noticed this as well. Foods I liked before now either taste too salty or too sweet.

Yes-- I feel a bit sick when I eat richer foods than I'm used to. I will say, it doesn't necessarily deter me, lol. It does make me eat much less than I otherwise would, though. If I eat a smaller portion, I don't feel quite as sick, so when I do stray from my normal foods, I try not to overeat.
I've also noticed that I eat much less now. I get full so fast when I eat "normal" foods again. I used to be able to eat a whole entree at a restaurant, and now I get very full on less than half. I'm quite happy about that. Once I'm done "dieting" my plan is to keep the portions really low, so I"m hopeful that if I keep eating less, I'll be full on less.

It happens to me too. And restaurant portions are now sooooo big in comparison. I can't finish it all. But I used to eat that and think it was "normal"!!!!!!

Jay, your gym gives away pizza? Sounds counterproductive to me!

Sadly, I don't have that problem. I can snorf down just about anything I used to in surprisingly large quantities. I hope that my body changes too. It's a lot easier to give up something that doesn't agree with you!

Oh yes. I binged (including pizza) on Monday for the first time in almost 3 months.
I use to eat like that for the first 20 years of my life...and I was obese, but my body adapted in many ways.
Now? Violently ill! From that one binge on Monday (which was even mostly high quality, bad for you food)...Stomach issues, headaches, still bloated and I even woke up Wed evening *drenched* in an absurd cold sweat.
How cool is it that we have been so good to our bodies they can now correctly recognize toxic foods and try hard to eliminate them quickly! Lets stay in this place forever, feels like heaven to me

TL0812, yeah, seems crazy to me. But, not everyone who works out is into wholesome food. "Food fests" once a month seem pretty standard in gyms I've belonged to. It's never healthy food... Always stuff like pizza, BBQ, chips, etc.

JayEll - I wish I could say the same about the west coast! Not that I don't eat healthy/wholesome but it gets really difficult to find someone who takes care of their body who doesn't want to sell you on the next new healthy food or tell you how your regular diet isn't good enough, you NEED to be raw or vegetarian to reach that next level, it worked for them and they're just trying to be friendly, you know Paleo sounds good, my friend x is on that...

fromthebox--I am on the west coast--of FLORIDA! Needless to say, things are a little different here. But at least the Gulf is warm for swimming. I used to live in SF--brrr!

I don't always have symptoms of bad but I usually regret the food choice even as I am eating it. When I have a bad craving that just keeps coming I have been making it at home in a healthy way. I am sure tomorrow you will notice a better day!

I never noticed salt much before... now I can tell very quickly when I have had to much salt!
