Default Reward suggestions...

Hello all!

My goal is to lose 100 pounds by next summer. I started a couple weeks into August, and I'm almost down 10 pounds (YAY!) But in order to have something to look at when I'm thinking about something I don't need, I was going to do something for every ten pounds. My orginal thought was a bracelet, but ten of them might be a bit much. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!!!

I'm such a fan of rewards that make me feel pretty. How about a manicure or pedicure or maybe even a fresh haircut?

I take pictures of myself and take measurements every ten pounds! It is an awesome reward and motivator and I really look forward to doing it!

Good luck, you are off to a great start!

I LOVE rewards along the way. I have treated myself to a massage for 10lbs lost.

What about a charm bracelet? Or one of the ones where you slide beads on? Speaking from experience, after a few more pounds, the reward is the number on the scale and the way your clothes fit (or don't fit because they're too big!)

Good luck!

I used to take the money I spent every weekend on crap, which usually included lunch Sat & Sun @ McDs, and a trip to DQ, as well as the chips and diet coke and chocolate, and put it in a coffee can and forgot about it.

Well, needless to say, after a few months I had enough to buy an e-reader!! I've used it every single day since, and it's the greatest thing to keep my hands & mind busy when I'm feeling vulnerable LOL

I like having something kind of expensive and say "this is the price of candy"

What do you like?

Charm bracelets and beads seem to be pretty popular, as linJber suggested, as are the spa-type activities suggested by several posters on this thread. (I really like Trazey34's saving her money and buying an e-reader!)

Some people use meeting goals as a chance to invest in their hobbies, by setting the opportunity to buy new art supplies, crafting materials, or sports equipment as rewards.

Most of my goal rewards are things that are not too expensive (very important), and are things that I really want (e.g., a hematite ring), need or will eventually need (e.g., new socks - the dryer eats them, I swear), or are fun (e.g., lottery tickets, music, paperback books, day trips to hike or visit friends).

I wanted a BIG reward if I hit my 100 pound goal. I decided at 75 pounds to start looking at diamond earrings. I thought 100 points (a full carat) for 100 pounds would be nice. Yeah - that ain't gonna happen! I thought I'd wear them all the time AS LONG AS I DIDN'T REGAIN ANY OF THE 100 POUNDS and that would be a great incentive. I think I'm worth it, but my bank account doesn't! HaHa. I guess I'll look for some convincing cubic zirconium studs instead!

I bought some new shoes for 25 lbs. I hadn't really planned on doing rewards like that, but I saw these adorable shoes and thought, damn, I just lost 25 lbs, I deserve a treat!

I'm thinking about what to do for 50 lbs now, so I'm reading all these ideas with great interest!

I love the idea of 100 points for 100 lbs - have you looked at QVC? I've always been very pleased with the quality of their Diamonique CZ jewelry and the prices are very good.

Since my size changes so often, I have opted for rewarding myself with shoes (a new-found love!), jewelry, and handbags. They'll stay with me when I get to my goal size; for now, I buy most of my clothing at thrift stores and donate back when I go down a size.

I also treated myself to a bike (hadn't ridden in years because of weight), sailing classes, and a YMCA membership. Things that keep you active are good reward incentives: tennis racket, new sneakers, rollerblades, a kayak excursion, etc.

I also really like the idea of a charm bracelet with a charm for each 5 or 10lbs.

For my 100lb loss I bought a serger for myself; something I've been wanting for years. For my goal reward I'll either go on a mini-vacation or possibly buy a sea kayak.

How about a bead bracelet with a new bead for each 10 pounds lost. Just a thought.

I have also done rewards along the way, but not at specific milestones... until this weekend! I reached the 50 lb mark and it just so happens that we finally have enough money to pay off my car. We're paying it off 14 months early too! So I'm counting that as my 50 lb reward!

I like the idea of incentives that help me lose more weight. I also bought myself a bike, new exercise clothes, and good workout shoes. It keeps me motivated!

I decided a long time ago that when I hit onederland I will get a Coach swingpack. I think they are super cute and would be very handy for travel and days out shopping. I've never had crossbody bags because my upper body was so big, they wouldn't land where they were supposed to.

I have also considered having my hair professionally colored as a reward at some point. I've never done that before.
