I joined 3FC seriously on 1/1/11, have lost 68 lbs./30%, and have assembled a platoon, a group who gives 110% every day to achieving their weight loss goal. Some of the ladies nicknamed me Sarge, so Sarge it is!
--Please join if you're serious about dropping pounds and melting your "BUTT-er" (that's a salute to Private MadamGooey).
--Please join if you want daily motivation to achieve your goal. Sarge has plenty of time to keep an eye on you!
--Please join if you want Sarge and the platoon to scream in your face like Jillian Michaels on Biggest Loser because that's what you're gonna get if you don't meet your goal each week!
--Please join if you understand the definition of challenge, "...a call to engage in a contest, fight, or competition," THIS IS YOUR LIFE YOU'RE FIGHTING FOR!
--DON'T join if you're gonna bring excuses!
--DON'T join if you're a daily scale watcher or only looking for company to share details about your daily life, pets, cra*py job, and other pity-party themes.
--DON'T join if your head isn't in it yet. We'll be here to embrace you with well-toned arms when you're ready.
--DON'T join if you're overly sensitive to comments like "step away from the buffet!"
--DON'T join if you want to discuss anything other than get this freaking weight off of me! Sarge is type A personality. Excuses and reading touchy-feely stuff makes Sarge's eyes bleed! There are many other threads on 3FC that offer loads of "soft" support and make you feel it's ok to slack on your weight loss efforts. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE THREADS!
RULES: IT'S EASY! Simply make Sarge a promise each Sunday by posting a pledge to lose a certain number of pounds the following week then DO IT! New Privates encouraged to join any Sunday!
Newbie posts should look like this: Hi Sarge, I'm new! I promise to lose ___ pounds next week!
ALL ARE WELCOME (including men)...any age, any amount of weight to lose. Say "Yes, Count Me In Sarge!" Do it, you know you want to, then drop and give me 20 minutes of exercise!

Oh Jeanettey, don't give up on us! I definitely look forward to your challenges - gives me a way to add something to my workout, without having to think too hard. I like the idea of giving us until the weekend though. Although I make time to actually do the challenge, I sometimes don't have a lot of time mid-week to report back.
Damn, I missed out on the 1lb immunity. I believe I would have been able to relax a bit tomorrow and Sat.
Welcome aboard shakaboo!
The sun was out today when I decided to walk to the gym. Too bad by the time I was ready to leave, it was raining. As I walked out, it'd let up a bit, so I figured "what the heck?" and started to walk. I got maybe 100 yards down the road when the heavens opened, so I took refuge under a tree on someone's front lawn - not at the edge of their property, but smack-dab in the middle of their front yard. I'm sure the homeowners got a good laugh. Called my son to get me. He pulled up, took one look at me standing there soaking wet, with rain running down my face and said, "Wow, that was some workout." Yes, I sweat a LOT at the gym!
RMC -- The entire platoon kind of benefits from the immunity when you consider it's 2 extra pounds in the loss column this weekend...unless of course Chick & Peanutt don't come thru with even a minor loss, which rarely happens!
I like the new name too.
Sarge and platoon members,
I am dissapointed that less and less platoon members are interested in doing the weekly challenge. I'm wondering if you are you too pressed for time to get to it during the week? I'm wondering if I should go back to weekend challenges or if the platoon just isn't interested any more.
I would really appreciate some feedback. Thank you!
I think we can't worry too much about other people level of commitment. We are all trying the best we can. Your exercises are great, post since it is fun and creative, don't worry if we don't follow.
This platoon and all it's crazy is working for me and helps. Thanks for the amazing effort.
Sarge - definitely feeling the love! And please don't ever sit out on the challenges. I love that you do them.
Thank you sooooooooo much ladies. Looks like I jumped the gun and you definitely have through to the weekend to do the challenges. Guess my insecurities were showing thru.
IN THE CORE NOW Challenge completed by
Sarge, Chesire, K3ll3y, Rainbow and me
Let me know if I missed anyone. Thanks again for participating
I guess the platoon had already killed all the pounds of fat around the last thread and so Sarge kindly moved us to better hunting grounds. I like the look of the new place!
Spent the afternoon in the waiting room of our urgent care with my husband who had severe neck pains. Turns out he has 2 compressed disks from some unknown old injury and will be spending the next few days in bed and on very strong medication. BUT I had already done my walking, thanks to the question "If not now, when ?" ringing in my head at o'dark thirty this morning --- see how quickly you folks rub off on us newbies?
OK, so on the treadmill tonight I did my own little version of walking intervals. Post-warmup, I did cycles of 3 min @ 3.5mph and 2 min @ 3.8 mph, up to the last 5 minutes when I always push much harder, increasing the incline and speed as high as I can stand. Within the same amount of time, tonight my mileage trekked was the same and my calories burned was higher than last night with my attempt at running, and all without pain! Win!
rmc: Ha! I read your posts, and know you wouldn't have taken a breather regardless. And I laughed out loud at the thought of you taking shelter under a tree in a stranger's front yard!
Jeannettey - I'm sorry I haven't gotten the challenge done yet. I have been working out with the trainer and just go with his direction. I am going to start doing the challenges on my days off from him.
