Are you sure you're getting enough calories and protein? Lack of protein, for me, leads to headaches and brain fog and I can't get anything done, especially not exercisse (no motivation!). Also, you may not be giving yourself enough calories. Sometimes it's best to exercise more rather than cut a lot of calories.
And the big kicker--water! Lack of water can lead to fatigue, but if you're drinking plenty of it it actually helps you lose weight and stave off hunger. So there's my guess: 1. calories 2. protein 3. water |
I saw a P.I.N.K method chat on here in Dec. and they said the shakes gave them energy. Of course they are not an overnight fix, but in a week or so they noticed a difference. Here are the ones they liked:
Breakky smoothies Smoothies (you can sub different fruits/powders) Right now I am using Whey Protein Powder and Almond Milk for all and adding 3T Hemp Seeds) #1 1 C Almond, Coconut, Hemp or Rice Milk (under 100 cals/cup) 1 Scoop Whey Protein Powder (Hemp, Natural Whey, Pea – no Soy) 1 Cup Frozen Strawberries (or whatever berries you want) #2 1 C Coconut Water (under 100 cals/cup) 1 Scoop (2 T) Hemp Powder (Hemp, Natural Whey, Pea – no Soy) 12 Frozen Strawberries (or whatever berries you want) 1 Raw Carrot 1 Handful Raw Spinach (I am using Kale this week) ½ Small Raw Beet 1 Medjool Date (not in mine J) #3 1 C Coconut Milk or Almond Milk (under 100 cals/cup) 1 Scoop (2 T) Hemp Powder (Hemp, Natural Whey, Pea – no Soy) 10 Frozen Strawberries (or whatever berries you want) 1 Banana 1 Handful Raw Spinach (I am using Kale) ½ Small Raw Beet ½ Lime Juiced Liquid Stevia (if needed) - I don't add I am yet to try them myself, been on summer holidays and not really on plan just yet. Best of luck :) |
I've heard great things about the Body Ecology Diet. It's mainly for getting rid of yeast. A lot of people have yeast overgrowth but not necessarily yeast infections. It causes fatigue and foggy thinking. Some symptoms can be a white coating on the tongue, craving for sweets, bad breath coming from the stomach and there are possibly others as well. You can google the diet but I think it's relatively cheap and worth a shot.

Hi lucky, have you tried this diet yourself? Im interested to know how someone has gone with it :)

Hi!
Sorry to hear of your lack of energy. I know what that feels like. My genes tend toward sedentary despite the fact I do not want to be a slug. Tumeric, in capsles, is a kitchen spice that has anti-imflamatory properties. I noticed if I use tumeric, I have way more energy. Real foods, the way Nature intended, are how we are supposed t o be fed. I use eggs for smoothies. World of difference. Good luck! |
Hi mairin7,
Besides eggs, what else do you put in your smoothies please? I am trying to have eggs each day (it has lowered my cholesterol) but am time challenged of a work morning to cook them. Thank you :) |
:carrot:This was me a few months ago. I was so physically tired I felt like someone was holding me down and I just couldnt get up. After blood tests showed I was b12 and d3 deficient, I started taking supplements. I also started taking the l-carnatine and drinking Yerba mate instead of my normal green tea and couldn't believe i Had so much energy. A week ago i started mo itoring/counting calories abd i notice my energy levels are consistently higher when i eat good with little to no white foods (breads, sugar, etc) month ago I added exercise, about 4-6 times a week and now its hard to believe how little energy I had a few months ago.
I recommend starting adding D3 and l-canitine and then adding exercise. Also Try to monitor what your eating-I use an ap called my fitness pal for tracking both calories and exercise. I think if you start slow then build you'll have more energy before you know it. Good luck, Theresa |
I'm with the people who have suggested vitamin D.
A couple of months ago I felt the same way as you did and I'm never out in the sun. My doctor put my on prescription vitamin D (and suggested a B complex). It took a couple of weeks to kick in but I can tell a huge difference between before and after. Good luck in finding what works for you. :-) |
What I do with eggs is wisk them into some cold water, add boiling water and wisk and blend it in with my smoothie. If I have fresh organic eggs, I just crack them into blender raw I love eggs, apricots, pineapple and banana with ginger, coconut oil (immediate energy) and coconut water as the liquid base.
Green smoothie: kale, apples, coconut oil, ginger, stevia and pineapple juice. Low carb: eggs, cream, stevia, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger These are the usual recipes I have used. Happy smoothies. : ) |

Hi nkkdmd! I don't know if you noticed this, but the OP last posted in January of 2012, so she's not likely to hear your advice. =) However, I'm glad you bumped the thread, as it was a really interesting read. In particular, your suggestion about beets sounds like an interesting thing to try. I don't get enough sleep, and I am trying to remedy that, but beets sounds like a much easier suggestion to implement to combat the tired feeling.
