Having a drink?
I have been very good about following my diet (LA Weight Loss) since rejoining, but I have a hard time completely cutting out my wine! Anybody else there too? What have you found about keeping that glass or two of wine in your day and how it affects your weight loss?

I am not doing LA Weight Loss, but I just started having a few icy alcoholic beverages a week and I have lost 3 lbs! So, it's the alcohol diet for me for the rest of the summer! Woo Hoo!

Consider the source:
3.5 oz of wine = aprx 85 calories. Who do you know that drinks ONLY 3.5 oz of wine? I know that when I feel like having wine, I drink at least 6-8 oz. So that's DOUBLE the 85 calories (170 calories!) and usually I will also have a SECOND glass... so that's another 170 calories (340 calories!) My breakfast sandwich is less than that! 8 oz of red wine is aprx 193 calories. Can you drink just ONE glass of wine & be happy with that? Because 193 calories is pretty doable in most any diet. :yay: |

I've been on WW for 18 weeks, works great for me (and husband) and that includes glasses of wine and dark chocolate, sometimes on the same day! I walk a little bit longer (or a lot if I overdid it) and so far so good. My thinking is that I'm retraining myself to eat better to live better for the rest of my life..and that life will always include wine and chocolate.

I calorie count and sometimes I enjoy a drink or two. What I love about CCing is nothing is off limits, as long as I plan for it. I am about to enjoy 9oz of skinny girl margarita at a cost of 225 cals. I am going to poor it over shaved ice....to give me a skinny girl frozen margarita. I usually have 1 or 2 glasses of wine a week, but tonight I wanted something different.

If I know that I will be having a couple of drinks, I factor it in the beginning of the day and immediately subtract the calories from my daily total. The trick is not to have an extra glass after the other glasses have made you feel 'good'!
I posted this same concern months ago. The response was that a glass of wine or a martini shouldn't make much difference if it is accounted for and I wouldn't feel deprived. This is one thing that has stuck. :) |
I think as long as you do a little more walking and drink more water to get the wine out of your system it should be fine. Anything in Moderation right!!

A calorie is a calorie if you ask me. I plan for a drink early in the day and can manage to stay under my total calories for the day. I say go for it.
