Know what, NP?? I have not been out of town or on vacation since I changed my eating and started exercising. BUT, if I did go somewhere I honestly don't think I would be counting my exercise. I would be watching what went into my mouth, but again allowing for that fact that it is vacation, or in your case WEDDING!!
If you are really wanting to keep track, get a pedometer. If not, just realize that if you are walking around for 8 hours somewhere....your body is moving...and that is what is important!! |
I'm with Anniedrews..enjoy your wedding and vacation....be mindful of what you're eating but I wouldn't worry too much about your exercise. If you are going somewhere that there is a lot of walking involved you'd be surprised how that helps you burn calories. I would be more mindful of my eating, but that's just me. I exercise for a living so worrying about it when I'm on vacation to me is like working!

Dance your tushy off at your wedding, that's exercise! :dancer::dancer::dancer::dancer: |
NP wish you all the best at your wedding, no worries of exercise when on vacation, just enjoy yourself and you would be surprised how far one can walk when in another city.
Stayed on plan yesterday, yay, once again today is my most challenging but I feel great and soooo don't want to have a day one anytime soon. Don't know if anyone ever noticed but food tastes so much better and I enjoy it soooo much more when eating right and controlling portion size and then too topit off feel amazing for not binging. It is a win win situation. I lost 50 lbs 6 years ago and ate healthy but alos had treats. For me eating one cookie or 2 small mouthfuls of brownie is winning the battle, still get to have a treat and enjoy it and still lose weight. Need to do that over Christmas! today is my last day of work till the 5th so will try to check in some while at home, seeing as the whole time off at Christmas disrupts schedules and can sooo lead to binging, the best Christmas gift I could have is to not binge over these next 12 days. |
Blahhhh, 2:55 made it this far, temptation strong, only till 3:30 then I can leave work and get distracted from tempation, fighting it all the way. I am not hungry so I do not need to eat, it is all in my head, I will win the binge battle today!
|
Go Ashley!! You can do it!!
|
thanks Annie! its 3:32 and i did it. Heading home in a few minutes, now to focus on the rest of the day and get thru it tooo! some days are just harder then others but I know if I just work at this and not give in it will get easier instead of starting all over again.

Glad to hear you got through it, Ashley! Be gentle on yourself and enjoy the holiday.
Having a good time here with family (although everyone is gone at the moment). Have not done too great with food today, but not terrible either. It's just those darn cookies crying out to be eaten that I am having trouble with. I'm not going to let myself stress over everything I put in my mouth for the next couple of days. Won't let myself go "hog wild" but plan to enjoy! I am, however, taking a veggie tray to our Christmas Eve get-together at fiance's family's. I vowed to do that when, on Thanksgiving, there was not one green thing there to eat! Also taking boiled cold shrimp and plan to eat that, too. So the healthy will be mixed in with the not-so-healthy and that will be okay. No exercise today and I doubt I will do any tomorrow or on Christmas. I have cleaning to do tomorrow....I had promised myself I would have it done by then, but I will get it done early and enjoy the rest of the time with my family. Bonus: Got the dog a bath today....and a nail trim!!:D |
Just a quick drive-by, hoping everyone had a great Christmas and that those of you dealing with bad weather are keeping safe and warm!

Hello everybody! Kathi-So glad to see you here!
I do hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday and you all are well. I have to be honest, I am a little down and sad....always am just after Christmas. But it was a wonderful holiday and I'm thankful for that. Had a real good time with my boys and fiance came over on Christmas eve and we also spent time at his family's that evening. My older son was away quite a bit with his new girlfriend meeting her family. I suppose I have to get used to that although it isn't easy. He wasn't home as much as I wanted him to be. We did get to go see our traditional post-Christmas movie today; older son, younger son and myself. Seems like there weren't as many good movies out this Christmas as there normally are...we saw Little Fockers and it was good. Had to rush home so older son could make it to work. Younger son now has a friend over spending the night and I am catching up on laundry. I will be off work tomorrow and am taking my car in for repairs. I hope it doesn't cost too much. Foodwise, it hasn't been as horrible as I thought it might but definitely has not been on plan either. Seems like I just cannot leave the cookies alone! The only reason I am looking forward to the end of the holiday season is so that I can get back to eating my regular, healthy food. Also to get back to my regular exercise schedule. I have not exercised at all since last Weds. I hope to maybe get something in tomorrow but not sure I will make myself. I will still weigh on Thurs./Fri. and assess the situation then. Still have New Years Eve and a big football bowl game on Saturday to survive foodwise as well. Then back to normal. I have so enjoyed being off work though. I only have to work Tues, Weds, and Thurs. of this week and then another 3 day weekend to enjoy. Then back to normal. We'll be eating McDonald's here in a bit...:o...and I had planned to have a wine spritzer or two as well...so it isn't going to be pretty. How is everyone else doing?? NP-How many days until the wedding? Not sure if you will have access to check in and let us know how that is going. I hope you are calm and happy.:) |
Hearing about all these Christmas temptations make me feel a little glad I don't have them. But then again, we have our own food fests, and often. We were invited away for the weekend to an old teacher of my husband's. She's a lovely lady, way too cool for the senior community she lives it. I was a bit worried about all the food she said she was going to serve, but thankfully she's not that great a cook, so I was able to be a polite and smart eater. She served the meal with Diet Coke and water and I'm very proud of myself that I didn't have any of the fizzy stuff, as much as I wanted to. I'm now 2 weeks Coke-free. I miss it badly, but know in the long run this is a good decision.
Still working hard on making good food choices. I made breakfast today at work, a bowl of oatmeal made with soy milk, with raisins and craisins thrown in, and a healthy dash of cinnamon. I did toss in a spoon of golden sugar, but I figured a little bit for flavor was okay, I'm trying to cut out garbage food, not calories. I've already brought in the oatmeal and the soymilk (not to mention the dried fruit), so maybe I'll bring in my own stash of agave syrup or brown rice malt for sweetening instead. I hope you all had a merry holiday and those cookies didn't call your name too loudly. |
Hello everybody! I'm back at work and got back to exercise and my normal food today. Didn't sleep well last night at all so I hope I can get back to my normal sleep schedule tonight, too. Too much staying up late and sleeping in over the holiday.
Hope everyone is doing well! |
Got on the scale this morning and I am at 77 kilos exactly! That's just under 170 pounds! I haven't been that low in about 3 years.
So with my good mood I went off to the gym and did 6 km on the elliptical. Another 3 km walk to work and I made myself a breakfast of oatmeal made with soymilk, with raisins and craisins and cinnamon. Now I'm drinking a double espresso with a splash of milk. It's going to be a good day, fingers and eyes crossed! We've been watching the news reports of the snow, it's crazy! It's sunny and in the mid-70s here today, and I don't miss living in New York during December at all! Did anyone get any exercise equipment for Christmas? Are we ready for our New Year's resolutions? I started a thread about it, and I'm planning on walking 2011 km in 2011, I can't wait to get started. I've got a ticker set up and want to start moving the little runner already! |
Congrats on the loss, Mirj!!:carrot: Keep up the good work.
I will step on the scales in the morning and hope for the best! I ate very well yesterday....except for the two cookies and two pieces of fudge I had last night. I tried to get up extra early this morning to get in some exercise but I could not do it. I did get my 3 miles done and feel good about that. I will be making a pot of potato soup tonight to take out to fiance when I go tomorrow. I love to cook for him and my boys. I am going to resist baking him a batch of cookies, too. Neither one of us need them! I may be coming back into town to be with my younger son on Friday night (New Years eve) as his Dad is working that night (he does sound and DJ work for parties). Unless younger son has friends over to his Dad's to spend time with, I will come home so he can stay with me that night....then go back out to fiance's for our big bowl game on Saturday. Hope you all have a great day! |
Well, I stepped on the scale this morning and the news wasn't half as bad as I expected. I weighed 152.5, so just a minor amount of damage done with the cookies, etc. over Christmas. Still have some rich eating ahead of me this weekend, but I think I can rein it in more than I did for Christmas.....the cookies are gone, btw.;)
