I've started more threads...
... and then vanished. It's almost comical.
Hi I'm Judy, 40 y/o mom of 2, going back to sork after 5 years playing mom/housewife. I am hoping the structure of full time will help, but here's the catch...I'll be working midnights. Work 11-7 sleep 9-3( while the kids are in school) and then squeeze the rest in from 3-1030. I know its exactly what everyone else does with the time flipped a bit, and am just working on figuring out how to do it. Thats it for my intro dujour. Have a great Wednesday everyone!! :carrot: |
Welcome Judy. This thread is still here anyway!
Hmmm. That sounds a tough agenda. Have you worked nights before? What work do you do? Good luck with it and glad you've found the 40s section! |
Welcome back and good luck with the graveyard shift!
I've worked overnights for 10 years now. There are many many studies documenting how shift work makes you more inclined to gain weight and makes it much harder to lose weight. Some of this is hormonal and some it metabolic. You can lose weight while working overnights but there are added challenges - forewarned is forearmed and all that. One thig I'd recommend - try to get more sleep than just the 9am to 3pm you currently have planned - most people get more than 6 hours a night. Sleep deprivation is one of the key reasons people gain weight on shift work. If you can grab a power nap from 9pm to 10:30 that will really help you. There used to be a support group here for shiftworkers but it kinda lapsed. I think I'm the only one still here. Maybe I'll start it up again... Good Luck!!! |
I worked 3rd before and I have to say that I was never more *****y, sleep deprived and sick than when I was on 3rd.
I wish you lots of luck, I wouldn't be able to pull off more than 2-3 nights per week on 3rd now. |
I've done midnights before and I am really not wired for daytime(never have been according to my mom) I barely get 6 hours a night now and between the dog and the kids it is not consecutive...I'll absolutely be able to sneak in some more if I need though. Thanks everyone!!!
