So let me share with you my morning....I am still trying to come down from it.
Disclaimer----whining, no benefit to anyone, dont feel you are obligated to read! LOL My 13 yr old daughter puts away my laundry. Plus she always knows where ANY thing is in the house, you just have to ask her and she remembers where she saw that item last. Now keep that in mind when you hear the rest of this story. I got her a pair of pants this weekend that are like black and grey water streaks, or kinda like black pants that were bleached. Anyway she loves them and wore them Monday, then she comes out ready to go to her Summer class with them again today, and I said no way. So she gets all ticked at me, comes out in something that I would not approve of, send her back in again.....then comes out is a lame outfit as a punishment to me. And sulks. Well I am trying to get ready for work and I ask her where a particular pair of pants are that I needed specifically for a meeting today. She had no idea, I reminded her that they were washed this weekend and that she had them on Sunday when we were sorting through some clothes that needed hung. She had no idea. Then I asked her where my two best bras were that she took to be washed Monday, she had no idea.......... YEAH RIGHT! she knows where everything is, except for when I don't let her wear what she wants! Then she is going to punish me! Where she put the clothes I have no idea, my room is chaos because we have all husbs stuff from his out of town apartment (he worked out of town and had an apt until he fell and broke his hip, so we have a whole household brought into our house with no place for it all) SO there, now I feel better......... |
Alright, where did everyone go?
Nothing GOOD to report, then report the not-so-good.......... How are you doing? What are your struggles? What is your PLAN for the holiday weekend? IF we dont have a plan we are sure to not follow it! |
Okay... I'm back with you!
I did not get off to a great start, but I've started my own July challenge and so far, so good... (she says at 11a.m. on the 1st:D) My plan for July is to weigh every day. An idea I got from these boards! Right now it's actually good for me because I need to be conscious of what I'm doing. I had gotten into the bad mindset of..."oh, one more day of eating won't matter..." So, I faced the music this morning and I really didn't like the song! 239.5! Yikes. This is GO TIME! And a goal of 20 hours of exercise for the month. I've done 30 minutes of cardio already. We have a low key holiday planned, so it's normal. I'm not doing the "take the weekend to eat and start on Monday" thing though. It all counts. thanks for listening. I will check in throughout the weekend in case anyone else wants to "talk". take care all, teresa |
Great job on starting those goals right away Teresa~
I had never thought of setting a certain amount of hours for exercise for the month. That is really a good idea! I think if I planned 10 hours that would be a huge step for me..........So yeah,,,,,,,,I'm there, I have to do something~ So 10 hours in July, thats ONLY 20 days of my Wii fit work out, right? Why am I already doubting myself.....we are often our own worse enemy. |
What do you do on the Wii?
I started that a while ago, but have gotten away from it (too much mess around it, actually:o) I was doing the free run on I think just the regular Wii fit. I loved doing it on the rebounder. Have you tried that? It's a mini trampoline, basically. I burned way more calories doing that than even on the elliptical. Don't know why, exactly. Just thought I'd mention it. I'm doing good today. No chocolate! My last goal for the day is not to eat after dinner -6 p.m.-ish. That will be HUGE for me. I'll try and figure out how to add my exercise ticker to this... Good luck to you! -teresa www.gooddaytodiet.com |
Hi!
I'm down one pound today. And i'm off to do my cardio. I hope you have a great day! -teresa |
Looks like I lost over 10 lbs in June :carrot: I'm still not able to exercise until the doctor clears me. I go back in almost 2 weeks. That will be 3 weeks without exercise :( but hopefully once I get back to it, it will speed up my weight loss.
I've stayed on plan since I began this journey on June 6! Its almost my one month anniversary LOL. I don't feel any lighter since I lost a little weight, and all my clothes are elastic waist so it would be hard to tell if there was a difference in my clothes. Anyway, I'm happy that I've managed to lose even without exercising for the last week, and upset that I can't exercise. Who knew me, who HATES any form of exercise, would actually WANT to go to the gym???? |
Hey I am new to the boards and landed here since I am forty something ahemm..anyhoo I am curious how weighing everyday affects you..the reason I ask is if I weigh everyday then i get mad because weight falls off in small increments. I am one of those people who wants the results yesterday and if I see a 1/4 lb drop that makes me NUTS.. anyway I have decided I am going to weigh in every 10 days... This is a great site and board, nice to be chatting women my own age, thanks

Hi Everyone I thought I had posted here to join ... humm, maybe I'm losing it. :) hope not! I'm 44 SAHM of 5, married. I count calories, I started my weigh loss journey on 6/1. I weigh every day often more than once. I walk almost daily, I tried my first Zumba class last Thursday it was harder than I imagined. I pretty much stay on point with the occasional day of wanting to eat some of every snack that I have in the house. My main goal is to stay focused which I have had an issue with in the past, tomorrow 7/4 will be day 34.

Hi Everyone,
gshillitani, Congratulations on your (almost) one month anniversary! That's an accomplishment. And that feeling of wanting to go to the gym is your reward, in a way... It's just going to keep feeling better and better. I hope you can go again soon. I'm really looking forward to having that feeling again. Losing It 2010, I've been around and around with the daily weighing thing. This month I'm commiting to doing it because I've been in a bad phase of just not looking (and not caring). And I've steadily gained back 20 of the 30 pounds I lost last fall. So... I'm doing it and hoping it will get more fun. I think that after I'm on a roll and I trust myself to stick with it...I will try to start weighing weekly. We'll see... I'm glad you're here. It really is different at this age. I remember dieting in my 20's and being able to lose 10 pounds in 3 days at will. Not any more. love2b150, I've been so curious about Zumba... I never even heard of it until this year. Happy Day 34!! Again, that's really impressive. That's all it takes... just start adding days and soon you'll be where you want to be. I have to formulate a more regimented "diet" for Monday. That, and I want to add abs to my workouts. Hi Annette! I hope you're well and having a great weekend. -Teresa -teresa |
Thank you! :) They say it's multicultural dance. I started hearing about it last year when some of my in-laws started taking it at their gyms. I don't know why I thought it would be easy. The flier I picked up said you can burn 300-600 calories in a hour. Not me though, at least not yet because I stop when I can't keep up. :D
I have to formulate a more regimented "diet" <-----I need to find a balance in what I eat also for digestive purposes. Can't do too many more times of the tight stomach thing. |
Happy Fourth of July everyone!
I hope you have a fun day and are successful with whatever diet strategy you have for today. We're not doing anything, so that's easy. Just another Sunday around here. Just a mommy, daddy and 3 year old. love2b150, what do you mean about "tight stomach thing"? And what are the digestive issues you face (if you want to share)? I tend to have lots of "stomach" issues. I think it's anxiety from as far back as i can remember. It jsut manifests right there in my gut. I checked out your blog.... I really liked it. You're good with the food tracking. I've never been able to be consistent with that. trying it again.. Take care everyone :), teresa www.gooddaytodiet.com |
Checking in on 4th of July
Hi ladies,
So wonderful to have a group to do this with. I only joined this site 8 days ago, but it has already made a huge difference to my morale. Mikkijoe, you are particularly inspiration, with a real can-do attitude I find refreshing. I have been on a long and painful weight plateau, hovering between 141-143 for almost 3 weeks. Everytime I thought I'd lost a pound, the next day I would be back up again (like many of you, I weigh every day...even though I don't think it's the best thing for me psychologically...I just can't stop myself). So today, I was finally 139.5 - convincing me that I've finally "busted through." I really really hope the next few come off more easily. I've posted before about how much harder it is to lose weight in my 40s than it was in my 30s. Does anyone here do fasting or modified fast days? I've also heard that zig-zagging your calorie intake can help prevent plateaus. If you've done either of these and found it helpful, how did it work? Do you aim for an overall average calories/day and go up and down by 10%? 30%? If you fast, do you just drink non-calorie beverages, or also eat something (like fruit)? Happy 4th of July everyone! |

Last week I had a bout with not being able to go to the bathroom for like 4 to 5 days. By Monday or Tuesday, my stomach was so bloated I literally could not eat dinner. That was the first time that has happened to me since I started my journey. I know it has something to do with not enough balance in my diet so I need to go back to my old menu's and see where I am messing up. I also had to start keeping tabs on my water intake again because I think that may have been the problem. I drank some herbal tea and it didn't work in the 6-12 hours that it said it would so I drank another cup and dropped almost 3lbs. And felt much better. I haven't been on my blog for awhile. I really want to update it but Norton had given me warnings and I don't no how to correct them, so I chose to just stay away for awhile. The only way for me to stay accountable is to log my food and weigh daily. I tend to mess up quicker or fall off the wagon if I don't. |
Zumba sounds like so much fun. I have found some classes locally here, however I have no time to go. I considered the videos for a minute and then realized, they would never see the light of day, let alone the DVD player! I am 40 yrs ols and I know how I work! ;) LOL
