I'm not going to be helpful with the bedwetting issue, I don't treat children at all. My knowledge about that subject is quite limited.
I reached the point today where I came home from work and just collapsed in my bed for a couple hours. I couldn't do any more. I really needed to cook dinner tonight so that I would have leftovers to eat for lunch this week and that plan got blown out of the water but that happens sometimes. Heidi-great job on the pants. I love that feeling. |
Newleaf, Glad you had a nice visit with your sister. Looks like you'll need to shop for some new capris! Yahoo!
angelskeep, Sorry about the snow, I've said it before, that is just wrong! Sounds like the walking dvd is working out great for you! That one pound is 4 sticks of butter! Keep adding those pounds together and they make a big loss! Petra, Sorry you had such a horrible weekend. Hopefully today was not as bad as you expected. Nice having a Dr. among us. I was not aware of the many stages of sleep. Very interesting! RedhookMom, A 3 minute run is a big deal! You'll be saying 3 miles run before you know it! Keep up the great work! Annie, Sounds like you had a great weekend! I would definitely count hiking outside around fiance's property exercise! Wizzie, It's nice when co-worker's are also watching calories. Takes away some of the temptations at work. Hope you enjoyed your time to yourself this weekend! ICU, Tickets bought! That's awesome! We'll be rooting for you! WLW, Can't wait to hear about your date! Another good day for me! I'm about 75 days from my vacation and I have 16 pounds to go. It is possible that I can make it but whatever I lose between now and then is fine with me. Was finally able to go look at the house with the pool and fell in love with the kitchen. DH and I went back to see it tonight. He likes the house but is not too keen on the lot. We have some talking to do. |
Wow -everyone did so well at Easter! I lost 1 pound this week and am learningto up my calories as I have been going too low. I know, I am learning though.
Annie: Our okie weather is great isn't it? Also wanted to mention I had a son that wet the bed til he was fifteen -he was such a heavy sleeper. We tried all manner of help but in the end he finally overcame it naturally. He is now a daddy of 2 little ones and I remind him to never "shame" his over something they may have no control over. He won't though...he rememebers. All of you are doing so good! |
8 miles on the bicycle. WooHoo! I haven't done that distance in ovber 2 years. Yaay me!

Good morning! So today I don't work until afternoon so I'll actually get caught up with personals! It will be good to see what you all have been up to. I had a good eating day yesterday and today is an elliptical/weight machines morning at the gym. I'm going to add in some later in the day exercise--my house is on a biiiiiiig hill, so I should put on my IPod and take the dog out to go up and down that hill at a fast walk for half an hour.
Hey, have you all seen Food, Inc.? I watched it yesterday and it was brilliant. (And sooooooo depressing.) I keep trying to align my eating more and more with going local, going with "real" food. Speaking of which, while having a martini last night (definitely not real food, but my planned for treat of the day) I agreed to be PTA Vice President for next year! While on Facebook! (Messaged by two friends.) The moral of which is, I guess, don't drink and Facebook! Bought some new jeans at Lands' End yesterday--size 16, (regular, not women's). They zip but not easily...I'm guessing 10 pounds, maybe 12 until they're flattering. So there's a mini-goal...I'll try them on every Monday. And when they fit, I'll buy a size 14. Time to get the girl up, so I'll send this and do personals after I put her on the bus. Lizzie |
Hi, my name is Sue and I'm new here. I've been reading posts for a few days and this looks like an active, accountable group. I hope it's okay to just jump in!
I have at least 50 lbs to lose and I know how to do it; I just don't do it! I am coming here for support and accountability. I'm tired of waking up each day being sure I can do what I need to do, only to “blow it” by lunch time. My goals for this week are to exercise for 30 minutes 6 out of 7 days, eat well, drink at least 40 oz of water, and take my vitamins. Each day I will post how I did the previous day. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you...and to getting fit and healthy and thinner! Sunday: exercise—yes; eat well—yes; water—yes; vitamins—yes. Monday: exercise—yes; eat well—yes; water—yes; vitamins—oops, forgot. |
Good Morning!
Just my regular stop in before school! Hope everyone has a terrific Tuesday! The scale is my friend again. I'm down another pound! I am so excited to be on the losing team again! CountryHomeschoolin, Good to see you again! Another pound down! It does seem weird to add calories but your body goes into starvation mode if you don't get enough calories. Keep up the good work! Angelskeep, 8 miles is terrific! Hope your buns are not too sore today! RedHookMom, Congrats on the size 16 jeans! You'll be wearing them in style before you know it! It's great to not have to buy a plus size! Off to work! Have a great day! |
slroth, You snuck in with a post while I was typing! Welcome to our group. Sounds like you have some good goals to get started. Keep coming here, it's a great group!

Wow, skipped a day and lots to catch up on! Everyone is doing so well it keeps me from giving up completely. I got back on the wagon yesterday, then fell off again last night : ( got tied up on a call and missed the last bus home, waited forever for a cab and was starving when I finally got home at 9:30pm and was sooo not in the mood to cook. I ordered in which wouldn't have been too bad until I threw in dessert! Today's a new day, going to try again : )
Petra: took ativan for a long time for stress and sleep, and actually took it during the sleep study. would take 3-4 benadryl to get to sleep and then would be groggy as heck all day. ambien was great for sleeping but every 3rd day I couldn't wake up. when I moved to texas I gave up my job and benefits so I gave up the ambien and antidepressants. My sister's dr had recommended melatonin to get her off the ambien so I tried that, at a rather high dose. It worked, and I've gradually lowered the dose over the years. I usually take 9mg a night now. And I do dream regularly these days. Caffeine after about 2pm is a major no-no! I was actually interviewed by CURE magazine on sleep issues after cancer/chemo. It is a very common problem. Heidi: chuck those capris and get something to show off your new figure! Cat: glad you didn't have any major effects from the earthquake : ) I've experienced a couple of small ones, not my favorite thing! slroth: welcome! this is a great group : ) My date isn't going to happen for a couple of weeks, sometime after we both get back from vacation. I'll keep you posted : ) Have a great day everyone, and a wonderful week! |
OMW - That profile pic is making me want to stop and take a beach vacation this instant!
Sue - Welcome! This is a great group! Lizzie - Way to go on size 16! :carrot: Angels - Yay! for 8 miles. You go girl!:carrot: Country - Thanks for the info on your son. It really does help to know you aren't alone. How many kids do you have? How many are you actively homeschooling? I want to homeschool my son very badly but the money hasn't been there for us to be able to do it. Yay! for a pound!!!! One more you'll never see again!!!! ICU- That's so exciting that you bought the tickets! Do you know where in Atlanta you will be? I used to live there. The pollen here is killing me. My head is about to explode. :dizzy: |
Welcome Sue! This is a very active group and a great place for support!
Sounds like everyone had a great Easter. I tried to approach the food like I wasn't a dieting person, but a smart person. :) So I skipped the cheesy potato casserole and loaded up on the scrambled eggs and spinach salad. I did eat about 8 jelly beans and a piece of coffee cake. But that was really it. I think the hardest thing to leave alone on holidays is the candy - and I don't really have a sweet tooth - it's just something about the candy. |
weightlosswanted -wow 9:30? I would be starving too! Maybe pack you some healthy food snacks to take with you. 2 of my fav. are almonds and apples ( I love the new Pinova -have you tried it?)
slroth: Welcome, I am fairly new here but they are very sweet group! Red Hook Mom: Oh my gosh that documentary was awesome. A sure eye-opener. Me and hubby were talking about it last night and we watched it several months ago. It has a lasting impact on you. Oh and be glad it was a martini and not a margarita -ya know how the song goes....~tequila makes her clothes fall off~. (so thats why my husband brings home the Jose Cuervo!?) lol.:D Angels keep: 8 miles? Dang, you go girl! Wizzie: I have 4, but only one home now. Hs'ing is a commitment but maybe in time it will work out. Took me a while to line everything up before I was able to start too. |
Hi everyone! A little sleepy this morning. It has gotten very warm very quickly here and has been in the 80's and humid and windy. Refusing to turn on A/C yet, I have been sleeping with the window open to let in cool air. The wind was howling last night and I kept waking up. Open window also allows my dog to hear things she usually doesn't and she was up barking after midnight. Drinking extra coffee today and hoping to get to bed early tonight.
Petra-Hang in there, sistah! You are doing great and soon you will have some relief coming when your co-worker gets back. OMW-I like your attitude about your pre-vacation weight loss goal. I bet you can do it!! How fun to be looking at houses. One more pound! Awesome! CountryHome-Good to see you! As you can see above, I am enjoying the weather, but not the wind or warm house. Glad you mentioned not shaming our children for things they have no control over. It can be very frustrating, but patience is needed. AngelsKeep-8 miles!! Woot:carrot: RHMom-I haven't seen Food, Inc. What is it and where is it on? Sue-Welcome! So glad you are here. It sounds like you have a good plan for the week. WLW-Good attitude about today being a new day! Onward!! Wizzie-Hope you are doing better with your allergies. The pollen is hard on my older son right now, too. LolaJean-I love your statement, "I tried to approach the food like I wasn't a dieting person, but a smart person." That pretty much says it all! But the benefits are that we will naturally lose weight!! Thanks for that!! Hope you all have a great Tuesday!! |
Good morning. I am pooped out and have a badditude today. Think I will hang out and read a while...Christiane Northrup book. Will bicycle or walk this afternoon, and which one depends on the weather. Springtime in the Rockies. Variable. UGH!

Food, Inc. was good. The farmer that they interviewed in VA is right where we had our vacation last year. What a wonderful place it was -- very rural but with a strong back to local movement. We loved it and would consider retiring there.
