Official weigh in tomorrow, but it looks like I blew past my April goal of 141. Honestly, I have no idea why it is almost easy to lose weight at 40. In my 20s, weight loss was so difficult. I exercised like a maniac back then and lost only 5-7 pounds over several months.
Maybe it's a karma thing. I don't know. But I'm not complaining. Keep the weight loss coming. :carrot: |
Congrats motivated chickie. You are doing wonderful. I wish I could do as good as you.
|
I've been inspired by Matt_h's "10-day challenge" on the 100-lb Club. :) I have been very sloppy with my eating lately, so I'm going to jump in on the last 10 days of April if that's OK!
|
I would like to weigh 212, that would be a loss of a few pounds.....long story, I was not on plan and gained back a bit last month.
|
Woo...Motivated Chickie...great job, give us some tips!
I am still walking every day and I am down another 1.4 lbs! :carrot: I have a walking buddy and that helps for those days I might be tempted to collapse when I get home from work. Hydra, I know you can do this again! ICU...Do you have to adjust your eating quite a bit with all the swim training? Okay hermitgirl and everyone else, let's stay positive, positive, positive!!!! We can all do this. |
Motivated chickie-I wish I had your karma.
I saw 219 on my scale today for the first time:dance::dance: It's gonna be a good day. I need to see it for a few days in a row before I change my ticker. |
Congrats, Petra. The number 9 is becoming my favorite number. :)
|
Hydra - welcome back, and a few pounds in 10 days is a very reasonable and motivating success!
sukie - congrats on getting that walking in! It's so helpful to have someone to nudge you along on those days where motivation is low. The only adjustment to eating that I've had to make with my workouts is to save some calories for when I get home. I can only swim from 7:30pm to 9, and I've found that if I don't eat a light snack before bed, I get horrendous cramps in my feet - plus I wake up in the middle of the night with my stomach growling - not cool! :) Petra - two-teens! yay! Everything yesterday was faithfully recorded, and I held it to about 1300 calories. Swam for close to 50 minutes, about 2400 yds. Scale was 147.0. I'll probably adjust the ticker tomorrow if it holds. |
1420 calories today, well under the 1700 threshold. Tomorrow morning I'll weigh and update tickers.
|
Congrats Petra!!!!!

Becky -
I'm doing Matt's challenge too, although I had already started getting myself back on track this past Monday so today is my 4th day of staying on plan. We can cheer each other on! |
Becky I have no idea how you can eat so little and swim so much!!
I talked to my weight loss coach tonight who was thrilled about me finally getting below 220. Goals for this week-25 grams of fiber a day, 4 days of exercise, and 48 oz of water. She has some high expectations. We'll see how it goes. |
PM - sounds good! Matt's progress has just been incredible. I learn so much from the 100+ forum. Tried Featherweights and they are wonderful too -just a different perspective because they're fighting a smaller number of pounds.
petra - that 219 will be back before you know it! Re the food level, I know it doesn't make practical sense. This is just anecdotal, but I used to be a long-distance swimmer, and I'm friends with a few ladies that also used to favor the long events when we were much younger (jr hi, hi school). And all of us seem be unable to eat as many calories these days as the swimmers that grew up as sprinters - almost as if our base metabolisms were taught to function slower. This in spite of outside-of-pool activities - my GF who does distance open-water swims for HOURS at a time only eats 900 calories a day, and is STILL fighting body fat. The math just does NOT add up. :( And yet she's a type A personality who's on the move constantly. |
Becky-that is just plain crazy! But there are so many pieces to this puzzle and you have to get it all to fit together to make it work.
I hit 31 grams of fiber today so I guess I will be testing out my theory. |
Yesterday came in right around 1600 calories, give or take - I wrote everything down but didn't look some of it up. Was trying a potato flour chip (like Munchers, if anybody remembers them), only these are all natural and flavored/colored with vegetable extracts. Really bland - but then tried them with hot sauce and something just worked! Still don't like them well enough to eat them uncontrollably, thank goodness :D.
Scale waffled between 147 and 146.5 - then settled for the lower one. I think those might have been the puffy bad-diet water pounds, and now it's back to the long haul. May is only a week away - I can do this. petra - you are so right about the puzzle pieces - and I think none of us are working out of the same box! I never imagined that my diet had to include so dang much fat, so little sugar (OK, I doubt there's anyone out there thriving on a high-sugar diet), or like you - so much fiber. Someday, someday - maybe they'll be able to do a blood draw or a saliva test, and give you a printout of exactly what you ought to be eating. Wonder how many of us would do it, though? I know I'd at least try! |
