Once again I am here to post and run.... I feel bad but I really need this group and need to try to stay involved even if it's just to skim the post.

My eating has been good but no "formal" exercise in a couple weeks. I got on the scale today for the first time in awhile and I'm still sitting right at 155.

DSS is settling in nicely as are the dogs. Still some stuff to deal with but nothing major. He's a GREAT kid, most of his issues deal with being in love and a parent/child relationship at his mother's that destroys trust and healthy relations. We are working on a boundary exception so he can stay at his current school. He's got an excellent friend base and is involved in sports. Up until a few months ago he was carrying a 3.5 GPA while taking honors classes. Like I said this is a GREAT kid.

I really hope to be back to regular participation in the next few days.

LC - Just wanted to say congrats on the half marathon, we are all so proud of you.

angelskeep 03-09-2010 11:58 AM

Howdy everyone. I'll jump in and just say hello since this looks like the group for me. I am just getting ready to hop on the bicyclke and ride to walmart to buy cream of wheat for my brunch. I only have 2 meals a day, plus snacks....just what works for me. I try really hard to eat healthy food, fresh food (all that chopping!) and keep fat and sugar low.

I thought it might give some of y'all a chuckle when I explain about the bicycle to walmart. I live in a small town, so it's only a couple of miles +/- round trip to either of our grocery stores. I decided last week that if I want food, I need to ride the bicycle to go fetch it. There are only 2 in our family, and I ride every day except Thursday, so it's easy to pack a couple of bags on the back and get what I need with a trip to eah store each week. I have a bad back so walking very far is out of the question. I've found that riding relieves pressure on my disc and helps a lot.
\
So, have a great day and off I go!

Hello everyone! I was informed this morning that I am in 2nd place at work for the Biggest Loser. Only two more weigh ins left. It would be nice to win, but I'm not going to be bummed if I don't. I have just used the contest to jump start me to lose the weight I have needed to lose for a long time.

I got my WATP 2 mile done this morning. There is a website for "Walk At Home" and they have a "Club" that you can join. It costs $29.95 a year. I would think they would make enough money off of their products to be able to have a free community available. (I read online that Leslie Sansone's business is worth $180 million!) Anyhoo....just kind of ticked me off a bit.

Interesting note: My older son will has had a weight problem since about 6th grade. He dropped some weight about a year ago, but has never been very active. He finally found some friends that go to the YMCA to workout in the morning before school. He has been getting up at 5:30-6:00 a.m. several times to join them.:dizzy::carrot: He will turn 18 next week (amazing!), so I told him I would buy him a 6-month membership for his birthday. I will continue it if he actually uses it. I am so glad he is getting fit.

CruiseCat-I'm glad DSS is coming along in your care. He sounds like a great kid.

Angelskeep-Welcome to the group! I love your plan to ride your bike for food!!

Have a great day everyone!!

petra65 03-09-2010 12:39 PM

Barb-I love the bicycle riding idea. Wish that was practical where I live but I would get hit by a car if I tried that for sure.

Cat-glad to hear things are settling down in your house and hope to see you more regularly soon.

leitnerfarmlabs-It's not my dishwasher. I had washing machine problems but they are fixed now. It was newleaf's dishwasher. I take it you breed and raise labs. I have a 7 year old yellow lab. He is momma's boy-snoring on the couch next to me as we speak. I also have a 4 or 5 year old German Shepherd (she's a rescue). Lots of dog lovers here.

I'm home from work sick today. First time in over a year. I feel like I've been run over by a truck. Every muscle in my body aches, I'm all congested and I think I may have a fever. I go back on call on Thurs so I hope I get over this quick. Even cooking seems like a major chore today.

AnnieDrews 03-09-2010 12:42 PM

Hi Petra, we were posting at the same time. Take it easy today and don't worry about cooking. Maybe some light soup or something to help you feel better?:getwell:

PeanutsMom704 03-09-2010 12:57 PM

a quick hello - lots of new people, that's great to see!!

feel better, Petra.

Great that things are settling down with DSS, CruiseCAT. Hope the boundary exception comes through.

Annie, nice news about your son, maybe you've inspired him! and you're doing great in your BL contest!

newleaf, ugh about the dishwasher. I was thinking about that, there is no way I'd be doing as much cooking and having fresh foods if I had to wash all of the dishes and pots and pans by hand. Hang in there, just a couple more day!

I'm off to a good week - I always go up on Mondays (I think from extra activity on the weekends) but on my downward slide now. Just .4 more and I get a new chickie for my avatar!

I know I'm missing most people, but hope everyone is doing well, feeling good and staying on plan!!

Wizzie 03-09-2010 01:10 PM

Petra - Hope you feel better soon.

Annie - Way to go on 2nd place right now. I can't wait until my work does the fitness challenge this year. I'm going to kick butt!

CruiseCat- Just glad to see you hon!

angelskeep, leitnerfarmlabs,Oh 2 be me Welcome! I'm pretty new here too.

Heidi - Thanks I'm feeling much better this week. Sorry about the dishwasher. There's nothing about handwashing dishes I like.

Tuning In - Yes it is hard to break the diet soda habit. I'm trying to hard.

KittehMama - You Go Girl! You're almost there!

Well, I just ordered some new heel cups for my feet. I'm taking a chance but I just want to see if they work. I have custom orthotics but they aren't doing squat. I want to get back to the gym but I can't do anything but ride my recumbent bike right now and that just gets boring. Plus, I'm camping out with the cub scouts next week and we have to hike to a battlefield for a civil war reenactment. I can't wait for the camping trip but the thought of how bad my feet will hurt is a little daunting. I will report back and let ya'll know if they are worth it. They had tons of great customer reviews on Amazon, Facebook, and their site. I hope these work.

Looking forward to my Wednesday weigh in. I've had a really good week eating and I hope to see the results on the scale. I made a challenge to get to 25 pounds lost this month. That would be 7 pounds. I know it's not a miraculous challenge but it would be great to get my 10% and my 25 pound magnet at WW this month.

angelskeep 03-09-2010 01:38 PM

Wizzie,
I have a friend who had horrible trouble with her feet. She got acupuncture and I guess it worked, because she joine WW, started WALKING all over the place and lost a lot of pounds. Dunno if it might be something for you to check into.
B

Wizzie 03-09-2010 02:27 PM

I get acupuncture for my migraines. I never thought about it for my feet. I should check into that.

Marie 03-09-2010 02:44 PM

Annie, my DH is pretty quiet but when he makes a joke, it’s usually pretty darn funny. I’m glad Tootsie is recovering! Congrats on you healthy restaurant choice. WATP club – I had a free trial with one of the DVD sets and it wasn’t worth being free more or less the 30 bucks a year. You’re not missing anything.

Newleaf, I’m glad the DW will be fixed and not just be a drying rack anymore. I can’t agree on the liking the grey better than the sunshine. You should get darker sunglasses and enjoy the blue sky.

Petra, I hope you feel better.

Liz, welcome back. Glad you’re back on track.

Kitteh, if it’s Monday and new thread hasn’t been started, go ahead and start it. As I’m on the west coast, I haven’t had a Monday where there isn’t one already since I don’t post till mid morning usually.

Patty, welcome. Good luck finding the right plan for you in terms of food and exercise. You can do it.

Leitner, I had plastic surgery to remove all my extra, crepey skin. I’m definitely doing better. Enjoy your weight and treadmill workout. Do you work obedience daily with your dogs? And how many dogs? The doggie on your profile is adorable. BTW, I am a husky mommy. Four beautiful huskies.:dizzy:

Cindy, I think it’s great that you’re maintaining under the trying last few weeks.

Barb, what an awesome plan for exercise. That riding to Walmart relieves back pain is a great thing . Welcome to the group. Where do you live that you don’t have to worry about it raining?

Peanuts, wow you are doing so great on your weight loss. :carrot::carrot:

Kim, my orthotics did nothing for my heel pain after several years. I even had cortisone shots into my heels (can anyone say painful?). So I decided to buy what my podiatrist wears – Birkenstocks. I did that Nov. 2008 and haven’t had heel pain after 3 days of the birks. Now I have such a birk collection (and a new pair was added yesterday :carrot:). I’m able to use regular tennis shoes for working out now and that makes gym workouts doable.

New to the forum, checking in

Hi! I'm Julia, I'm 43, and I started my "self-improvement process" on February 26th.

I started at my highest weight ever - 153.4 lbs (I'm 5'2"). Never been a big eater, don't eat processed or fried food at all, don't have a sweet tooth. My problem is red wine - I've gotten into a habit of drinking every night, and the weight started adding up - a few pounds per year, no big deal. Except I've gained over 25 lbs in 13 years...

Well, so far it seems whatever I'm doing is working - I'm down 6 lbs so far. I've cut out all alcohol, bread, pasta, white rice, and sugar. I'm eating some fruit every day, and I don't eat after 7 PM.

Exercise is a problem - I used to walk/run 3-4 miles a few times a week, however I had foot surgery in November and only now can start running again. I'm afraid I'll have to go back to C25K, I'm so out of shape.

Anyway, I hope this forum will help me stay on course!

leitnerfarmlabs 03-09-2010 09:54 PM

Petra65 sorry about my confusion, Looks like I can't do multi tasking in conversations!

Marie I looked at your profile and it looks like you are one pound from your goal weight?? We currently have 4 labs and 3 are in texas with my husband training because the weather is much nicer, and I am working with the youngest a 3 month old , on daily obedience. I go to texas with him Jan-March 5 yearly. We do obedience every day with all the dogs. My husband reminds me it's the foundation even for the older ones.

AnnieDrews, congrats on your continued weightloss at work!

I did good today I walked an hour (it got up to 55 degrees today) and I had to shovel gravel around our drive and the kennels, the yard is like a mud pit, I would like to concrete the whole yard especially this time of year. I have to go back to work tomorrow so I plan to get up at 5am and get my walk out of the way!! If I wait till evening I tend to make excuses why not to do it. I am not particulary fond of exercise but realize I have to change my thinking and accept I can't keep weight off unless I do it!!!

Marie 03-09-2010 10:29 PM

Julia, congrats on your 6 pound loss. You're on your way and you're doing it the healthy way. Welcome to the thread!

Leitner, I understand mud this time of year. My poor wood floors are pathetic and not worth the effort to wash. One trip around the neightborhood dirt roads and the effort is for nothing. I just keep them swept. Do you raise the labs for competition, breeding, etc? BTW, I just haven't changed my ticker - the plastic surgery took care of that last pound. So I'm a maintainer now.

Good morning, everyone.

Welcome to all the new people and the returnees--I'm looking forward to getting to know you.

I hope everyone's week is going well.

I hit the gym twice yesterday--it felt really good to get a solid aerobic workout in (twice). I'm off the gym again this morning.

Still holding well to my calorie counting plan.

Have a great day.

PeanutsMom704 03-10-2010 08:00 AM

Hello all - it's so great to see so many new people!!!

My update - down to 227.4 this morning. That's 5.8 lbs since I got the Gowear Fit, which is amazing to me, in comparison I had a total of 5 lbs for the entire month in Jan and Feb. It's also making me WANT to make sure I stay on track with food and be extra vigilant about logging everything and staying well within my range.
