Mack and I are off to see Avatar at the IMAX theater down the hill this morning and then lunch with his daughter.

Hope you all had a safe night.

  • Happy New Year!

A very quiet evening at home last night. Looking back on 2009 it's been a great year! I've lost some weight, improved my health and my life. I've done many things I would not have done previously, like tubing, water slides, biking with my DD, sitting crossed legged on the floor, the list goes on! I'm looking forward to 2010 and what it has in store for me!

    Have a great day everyone!
  • Happy New Year!

We had a wonderful dinner with our dear neighbors... got to bed at 1:00am, which I think makes a new record for DS8 & DS10!
  • Happy New Year to everyone. I didn't cook my Wild Boar yet but I did make a pot of soup yesterday as well as pomegranite molasses and started my preserved lemons which take a month to mature so I'm off to a good start. Had a great Middle Eastern style breakfast this morning.
  • Hi all...my last January in the 40's... Feels weird. Hope everyone had a safe New Years Eve...Happy New Year to TWENTY TEN!
  • Happy New Year!

Relaxing at home today.. need to clean my kitchen.. it's a DISASTER!

Dinner is going to be pork chops and sauerkraut and I think for dessert I'll make that frozen ice cream sandwich cake/cool whip/hot fudge concoction!
  • cassie: are we talking about the lowfat, low carb version?!
  • Dear Ladies

I wish you all healthy and

Looking back , 2009 was good because I have managed to maintain what I have lost so far.
It is time to move that scale in right direction again , so on Sunday I'll weigh my self to assess the holiday damage and go back on track.

I post rarely but I'm here every day , and reading your posts keeps me going.

    yours truly lurker

  • Cooked the wild boar. Fortunately, I cooked it in a strong flavored sauce but I'm not crazy about it. I hope I like rabbit and goat better when I get to those. Goat is on the menu toward the end of the month.

On a better note, I returned some dress shirts I had gotten for my brother in law that didn't fit and while I was in the little outlet mall stopped in the kitchen store. I got a refurbished kitchean aid stand mixer at a ridiculously good price. It comes with a 6 mo warranty and I've bought a refurbished appliance there before and had a good experience so I'm not concerned about it. Looking forward to playing with my new toy.
  • Nell, lurk away! I'm glad we're able to lend you support... I love it when you pop out every now and again, too...

Petra, enjoy your new mixer! I've had goat before, at Indian buffets. I think it's another strong-sauce meat...
  • Happy New Year, everyone! Sounds like you're all as happy to see 2010 roll in as I am. I'm glad to see the back side of 2009. My goals for the year are to overcome my lack of belief in myself and improve my self image. First step - I have an appointment for haircut and color, and finally placed my first order with BistroMD. Should be shipped next Monday (the food, not the haircut .) See ya later, frumpalicious!

Doesn't sound anywhere near as interesting as your culinary adventures, Petra65. I've got to search the archives and find out what you're up to. You've got me craving a pot of Moroccan Chicken Stew. Mmmmm.

OnMyWay, congrats on all the new things you did in 2009. You inspire me to try kayaking by December 2010. Um, I have to manage getting down to the floor and standing back up by myself first.

Nell, yay for your maintenance! Rock on.

Take care everyone. See you later.
  • Petra,
You will LOVE the stand mixer. I have really enjoyed playing with mine. It is so nice to put the ingredients in, turn it on and walk away! Happy cooking!

No ma'am. It's the real deal full fat pan of goodness!

I don't use cool whip.. I make homemade whipping cream, homemade fudge sauce and instead of peanuts I use toffee bits. My my my.
  • Hi All - Happy New Year! I am just starting out this new year to attempt to lose weight for a healthier new me. I've decided to low carb for now....there are just too many diets out there, but this is the way to go for me to at least jump start my new beginnings. Good luck to you all.
