Thank-you for your support all!

Thanks to all for your support. I have a friend on here whom has lost a substancial amount of weight through calorie counting so I have taken some advice from her and started counting calories as my problem really isnt over eating. It is skipping meals and not eating properly. If anyone has anything else they could share with me that would be graet as Iam looking for any advice and tons of support and I know I have come to the right place. Thanks again.:)

My only piece of advice is to try to view this as a way of life and not a "diet" you do to lose weight for your cruise. Anything you do temporarily will only lead to temporary weight loss.

Welcome! I calorie count too.

Welcome, Zabou! Sorry I missed your first post - hope you are settling in and exploring 3FC!

Book recommendation - can get you up to speed with what "good" eating really is about, and give you some ideas on how to apply it to a way you want to eat at least 90% of the time for the rest of your life. It's "Ultrametabolism" by Dr. Mark Hyman. This one deals with the physical side of food as fuel and how disease processes start (and can be stopped) through the right foods. It's going to be about the same as what you've probably already heard - cut down on red meat and dairy, or at least move toward free-range/grass-fed/wild, add plenty of vegetables and some fruit, quit the "white death" of refined sugars and flours. I like this book because it does a very good job of explaining why processed foods are bad on your system. It also addresses food allergies that can make it really hard to lose weight, and has menus/meal plans to get you kicked off in the right direction.

I've been using the guidelines from that book, but tracking calories (and a lot of measuring/weighing) because portion control is my weak link. :D

Good luck, and jump in and post in our weekly chat. The holidays are upon us officially, and the extra support here is incredibly helpful!
