  • Hi Ann,
You know, I am not an expert on calories per day but it almost seems as if you are not eating enough and that may be why you are tired and don't feel well. I would also suggest you add more veggies to up your fiber intake which will make you feel full without adding a lot of calories. That is just my two cents. I am sure others on here will be able to help you out more. I am a bit new at this myself.

  • Eat more protein, less carbs/starches.
  • The best approach is to figure out how many calories you need to lose weight safely, then develop a healthy, balanced diet to meet that mark. Calories needed will depend on gender, age, height, current weight, activity level, etc. We can't really evaluate your intake because we don't know what your caloric needs are. I will note that you're not eating any fruits or vegetables, which isn't a good thing. Also, you haven't told us proportions on everything, i.e., how much chicken salad? how was it made? lots of mayonnaise or ... ? etc.

This site: http://nutrition.about.com/ is a good place to start. Use the calorie calculator then read up on the nutrition. Fitday.com is a great place to track your intake and get a readout of your nutritional balance.
  • looks like i'm going to have to go back to the beginning and restart i've been on diets for so long i think i've picked up lots of bad habits thanx for tacking the time to read my thread i'm of to look for a more structured diet
  • Hi Ann (and all). This is my first post. Hello everyone! (waves)

What I notice missing from your daily food intake is COLOR! You might want to try to add in three or four servings of different colored veggies and fruits each day. It will add fiber, lots of nutrients, and variety.

And, you could definitely ditch some carbs and increase the protein.
  • thanx gretavanbb welcome to the club i'll try adding more colours and see what happens (well it works for the rainbow)
  • Hi Ann,
    I'm also a newbie,

Increasing my water intake has boosted my weight loss quite a bit, as well as increasing my intake of fruits and veggies, I really work on making sure that I eat breakfast, lunch & dinner, I also try to make sure that I don't allow myself to get extremely hungry, because when I do all bets are off & I allow myself to eat too much as well as the "wrong foods" (i.e. candy etc.)
