Please reccomend a good high protein low(er) carb bar
I am leaving at 5.30 am on Fri to an all day meeting 2 hrs from my home. The meeting starts with a breakfast - yikes! - but I'm not too worried about skipping that. I'd really like to have something that I can grab from my purse as the day goes on and here comes lunch! I was at a health food store today which had a dizzying array of bars but most had 19 grams of carbs or much more. Some had 15 or more grams of protein and some only 5. I'm not going to find anything exactly comparable to an IP bar I know. What bar would you recommend that I can pick up from the store to keep in my purse?

I believe the brand "Pure Protein" has a bunch of bars similar in stats to the bars from IP. I have seen them at Target and local supermarkets.
I am not sure if there is really any high protein / low carb bars

Oh- maybe do a little digging around in the "Alternative" thread (sticky) for some alternative IP options.

I am obsessed with my protein bar and have never found another like it with 20 grams of protein and ZERO sugar. They are called Think Thin (I know - the name is terrible) but they are delicious. Not quite as low in overall carbs as pure protein (18 compared to 25), but far better than most. I buy them at wegmans and they sell them on drugstore.com as well.

Some of the Atkins bars are pretty darn good, the problem with those is the fat content is higher. I use their vanilla protein shake in coffee, it's richer than the IP shake and I only use a little here and there so it hasn't had any impact on my weight loss.
Proti products are good, too

Power Crunch!!
I found them at Trader Joe's while looking for low-carb bars for my mother who has diabetes. 10g total carbs (5 of those sugar)
This will be one of the items I'll try when I'm done with this program. My mother said they were delicious.

I forgot to add, they have 15g of protein. They are a little bit high on fat at 11g though

Supreme Protein Bars
Pure Protein Bars
Are the best!!! They are 20 g protein and 15 carbs. I order from Nashua, but up here in Canada, I'm able to find Pure Protein at WalMart, and Supreme at Zellers. Good luck!

I have a 'pure protein' bar every morning for breakfast. My favorite is the chocolate deluxe flavor - 180 cals, 20 g protein, low in sugar and carbs plus it fills me up until lunch.
I also really like atkins peanut butter granola bar and chocolate chip granola bar - all their protein bars taste very good.

Thanks for all the tips. I tried a few of these bars - yum! My new fave is powerCrunch, made in Canada. They are wafer bars in chocolate or French Vanilla. 205 calories, 12 g fat, 10 g carbs, 14 g protein. They were at Wal-Mart but my local grocery (Albertsons) has them on special this week 10 for $10. I like the French vanilla best. The chocolate ones just don't taste chocolaty enough
