Default Steel cut oats???

I've been thinking of switching over to steel-cut oats. Right now I use regular oatmeal that is the quick-cooking kind. Is it more expensive than regular oatmeal? Any pros or cons to those who've eaten it before? Will my two sons (ages 9 and 6) like the taste of it? Does it take longer to prepare?

Thanks in advance.

It's really chewy. If you like that, go for it.

Otherwise I think old fashioned rolled oats is a good compromise. Faster than steel, but better than instant. And it isn't like it takes a WHOLE lot longer than instant anyway.

Chewy, huh? I don't know if that would go over too well with my family, especially my two sons. Maybe I'll just stick to plain oatmeal. Thanks for the response, astrophe.
